Slipperman = I saw the Musical Box to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in NYC in December...fourth row, center...the the slipperman costume just appalled me but I also felt some sympathy for it as well...that doesn't really relate to me personality-wise, but I just wanted some kind of Genesis reference (cuz they're the best!) and that was fresh on my mind.

Avatar: Because that album (Todd Rundgren's Utopia, their first album) BLEW MY FREAKING MIND the first time I heard it, and I still love it immensely with every listen. And there's something about the album cover, it's one of my favorites.

great thread, been fun reading about everyone else's choices...

...it is real...it is Rael...

My nickname is dedicated to Coltrane and and a pun on my last name.

I'm too lazy to choose an avatar.

Gaston is just a nickname I've had for awhile. I use it on mostly every forum. Now it's become some sort of Canadian thing since I'm from Canada, eh? Bob and Doug are just awesome, what can I say. Coo-roo-cuckoo-curoo-cuckoo!!!  (hey, Geddy's on one of their albums, I guess that accounts for something!  )

Hahahah, I was about to say when I read that.  What's so funny about Pete Townshend's ambitions to raise rock to an art-form... Hmmm, I wonder if he liked prog rock.

I think it is obvious where my name originates. As for my avatar... well... it's just a funny picture a friend showed me.

My new avatar actually speaks for itself. For the unknowing: it's from the backcover of King Crimson's 'Red'. One of my alltime favourite albums. I also think it's a very strong symbol. It somehow reflects the state of the world as it is today (IMO).

Syzygy is a word that once got me a truly remarkable score in a game of Scrabble (sad but true). The final 'y' was on the bottom right hand corner triple word score, and it connected to the word 'thirst' going down. OK, so one of the y's was a blank, and a 7 letter word would have got me a 50 point bonus, but it's not every day you get to use a 6 letter vowel free word, and even rarer for it to land on a triple word score.

The avatar comes from Harry Enfield's brilliant send up of the stereotypical Scouser - I should add at this point that I am guilty of being Liverpudlian, but no one has ever called me a Scouser (at least, not to my face). If it hadn't been for a certain Manc's poking fun at my native city (aided by a Swede with an oddly English sense of humour) it would probably be something prog related.
