I voted for Maradona, purely because we share a birthday. Haha We all know that Shea Givens is the best goalkeeper who ever lived, thus making hime the best soccer player ever. |

In this poll I would like to focus on football skills so here's my opinion about Pele and Maradonna:
- although Pele (Edson Arantes Di Nascimento as I remember) was a superb player who scored an amazing amounts of goals (more than 1000) and who won many prizes, my vote goes to Maradonna ("El Diez") because he was more allround, his opponents were more determined to eliminate him (and so they did like in Spain ) and he was almost alone responsible for Argentina their World championship in 1986 with breathtaking moments and the best goal ever made
Watch this: Videofragment Live is Life
And now I am going to watch Champions League: PSV versus Arsenal (unfortunately no Van Persie ) Edited by erik neuteboom - February 20 2007 at 14:57 |

A good question would be how many of you have seen Pele playing? Oh, it's so easy to rush in and vote for Maradona because most of us saw him.... but take the oportunity to watch some tapes, to see the guy playing, then analyze statistics, analyze playing-abilities, heading, speed, dexterity with both legs, and a lot of other factors, and the answer is definite: Pele pwns Diego Armando, as you say.

Yes, that game was embarrasing, Maradona got a a twin brother.
But really, Maradona had a unique talent, it's a shame that with all the money, chances, help offered he went over and over and over.
Plus he is a jerk also, so that doesn't help him.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pele is the king. Sorry but IMO Maradona is one of the worst things that could have ever happened to football, and I seen both play.
Other greats:
