Well, good gravy, what did you expect? For us to knuckle under to your onslaught of logic and say, "Hmmmm, I'd better trade in all of my neo prog and prog metal discs because I've apparently wasted my time according to one person".

I did like the suggestion of "Quartz" as prog metal. Pretty driving tune anyway.
"Subterranea" by IQ would be darn good, too.

Eh, you do have a valid point; however, I don't know what compells someone to come into a forum that they obviously have no interest in. I happen to be a pretty good cook, and if it's a recipe for disaster then the recipe is as follows:
1 tsp. Lighten up
1 tblspn of your opinion is better used for something else
1 1/2 tblspn of participate according to interest
1 c. of Who asked ya?
Combine and marinade for at least until the sun burns itself out. Enjoy!

^This thread went off topic because The Lost Chord spouted his "modern prog is rubish" rehtoric again.
Anyway, I'm sure you could redo any song, not just neo, to be a prog metal song, but why bother. Each band wrote and recorded songs to how they wanted them to sound, I'm no fan of covers because it takes away some of the original intent of the song, plus why cant you just write your own songs.

If that were true, that would mean neo prog is as good as progressive metal. |
Some neo prog IS as good as some progressive metal

"The Wake" is already what I feel Prog Metal should sound like; Same with subterranea. The rest of what is known as Prog metal is too much into shape, and too little into content. Anekdoten, another fine example of true prog metal. The rest is Glam rock in disguise...

I have no idea. ![Confused](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif) Arena is basically prog-metal anyway.

Both styles are not that different. Arena and Riverside are two bands that I consider to be a mix between neo-prog and prog-metal.
Almost any neo-prog album would sound good with more metalish guitars and vocals.
