Led Zep's 'Stairway...', any Queen songs are always popular. As for Prog well you could try an slip in 'Us and Them', 'Another brick in the wall part II' (thats the one everyone knows), the Beatles but also put this one in 'Alive' by Circus Maximus a great prog-metal track thats all about love an feelings towards 'the one'. Ahh yeah plus how can you forget 'Show me the way to Amerillo'

Then pack the rest with the usual stuff like 90-2006 pop, 60's & 70's pop you know the stuff Sash, Lemar,Oasis, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, james 'makes my skin crawl' blunt, blah, blah  etc.

Prog is music for the mind

Hello everyone

I for the first time here hope you accept me.

I hope you know that you can create an own musical site.
It very easily and interestingly. You can place the favourite songs (about wedding ).

I have small site about Santana and Queen (everyone can look and make better). By means of http://www.freewebtown.com I have inserted songs which can listen

Try also you !!      http://www.freewebtown.com

I wish all of good luck and good day

I'll second Comus. And Supper's Ready - one of the lyrics is 'can't you feel
our souls ignite'. That's very wedding like.

But seriously, prog at a wedding would likely be a downer. Carpet of the
Sun and Let it Grow by Renaissance are my honest contributions if it must
happen. And You and I also was a pretty good suggestion.

I'd second De Futura
I'm sure the crazed chanting and the the terrifying bass issued by Mr. Top would really be a hit
Seriously, though, I think Camel might work pretty well, or some PG solo, or some Gentle Giant (Reunion )
Even though it's not prog, you can't beat Van Morrison for music for a wedding, and your sister can't not love Van Morrison Go for Crazy Love, Into The Mystic, Sweet Thing, or Autumn Song
Try to avoid the KC (Trio might be nice though ), The Magma , and most of all, the Van Der Graaf Generator

I had a band of teenager musicians play at my wedding - they played Pink Flloyd, Beatles, Hendrix, Doors, Led Zeppelin, Cream and other similar stuff.  It was great.

if you have to play something, do that one. Seriously. The live version off the Cirkus compilation is the best!

I'd suggest Closer to the Heart.

And You and I might be nice too, though a bit long.

I would agree that there are many songs that could work, but didn't you say
that your sister doesn't like prog? Since it's her wedding, I would suggest
programing stuff that she likes.

Laugh if you want, but for my wedding, we had the church organist play the Yes song, 'Wonderous Stories' on piano as a 'prelude' song, while people where being seated...and for the clincher, for our '1st dance' at the reception, we had the d.j. play the King Crimson song 'Walking on Air' from the album 'Thrak'......top that, folks!!!!

My girlfriend and I will need a ProgDJ to our wedding I'M NOT JOKING... We love prog and we really want to play our favourite songs during our wedding...

Well, my suggestions: Maybe some songs of Porcupine Tree like Blackest Eyes or The Sound of Muzak... Pink Floyd's Us and Them, Bike and Another Brick in the Wall Part II... King Crimson Sleepless, Model Man and Thela Hun Ginjeet... Rush's Time Stand Still and Big Money... Queen (almost every album)... Yes: You have many "pop" song on 90125 and Big Generator... You can prove with Asia and GTR too... Peter Gabriel: So and Us... Genesis: almost everything of the 80's and 90's (but please NO Phil Collins solo albums)... Jethro Tull: Locomotive Breath and Fat Man... Maybe some songs of Tool and Dead Soul Tribe... ELP: Ces't la Vie, Still You Turn me On, From the Beginning... John Paul Jones with Diamanda Galas: SPort Life (full album)...

... E N E L B U N K E R...

I'd say...

Jethro Tull - Living in the Past, Teacher

Genesis - Your Own Special Way, Entangled, Squonk

Pink Floyd - Money, Us and Them, Another Brick pt II

Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart, Tempus Fugit, Going For The One

Rush - Superconductor, Closer to the Heart, The Big Money

Spock's Beard - All on a Sunday

The Beatles - Drive My Car, Taxman, pretty much anything upbeat

*** I'd say if you're going to play prog songs, they'll work best as slow songs. But if you want some prog as dance songs you'll probably have to get into the 80s era.

I wouldn't limit myself to prog though... it IS a wedding
