Wow, what a selection. May I suggest another one is missing -

HAWKWIND Quark Strangeness and Charm - not their absolute best but should still be in the reckoning

Anyway - I feel I ought to be voting for either Renaissance or Barclay James Harvest (were BJH really prog??) as they were big personal favourites at that time. So THAT's the year I saw Pink Floyd! Wow, I honestly couldn't remember for sure. Anyway, at that time I was obsessed with A Farewell To Kings AND Songs From The Wood. I've got to call them a tie with Animals and Wind And Wuthering right behind.

LA LOCANDA DELLE FATE - Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più for me, followed closely by the ultimate and best prog album Rush did,  A Farewell to Kings.

    1.  Animals
    2.  Going for the One

Animals gets my vote.  It was one of the first (possibly the very first) album I saved up for and rushed out to buy as soon as it came out rather than waiting to hear it first.

A Farewell to Kings runs it a very close second

Nearly went for Going for the One as I'm such a fan and I have happy memories of buying the album when first released, seeing them in the concert that year with Wakey back at the keys, but.....musically, I have to vote for Animals, which (IMHO) is PF's best work.

Another great album from that year was Bowie's Heroes, featuring of course Fripp and especially, Eno.

And then there was Ian Dury's New Boots and Panties!!

As much as I love "Animals" and "Songs From The Wood" - I voted for "Going For The One" as it was a good strong album after some quieter moments for "Yes".

 1 Going for the one

  2 Wind and wuthering

  3 Songs from the Woods

 The next year 1978 it started to go all wrong.

I voted for Van der Graaf 'Quiet Zone'.

Peter Hammill's 'Over' is also from '77.

Fantastic and very different albums.

MY VOTE GOES TO PINK FLOYD. VERY HARD TO CHOOSE BECAUSE THAT WAS OTHERS  5  ALBUNS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO VOTE.1977 WAS A GOOD YEAR   FOR PROG.AND I BORN IN THAT YEAR

Animals,

Songs From The Wood,

Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più,

Movin’ On, 

A Farewell To Kings,

National Health,

Hijos Del Agobio,

Rockpommel’s Land.

Il voted for Circus, cause no has done so, so far, and it is a good album that should receive more attention.
