I just made a little diddy on "Photoshop", don't want to be confused with anyone else. I'm 45 and teach Graphic Arts. Been listening to music for a long long time. Hope to have fun here and not freak anyone out! Music is a way of life for me. I collect vintage synths also. Play drums etc!!

In that case, I choose #3 - I agree absolutely and entirely with your response, which I feel is totally valid and a very lucid explanation of the intricacies of the style in question - why anyone should think otherwise is quite beyond me, holding, as I do, a Brownie badge in Jaw-Harp playing.

I hereby fully reject any suggestions which have anything to do with bodily functions and transport.

You have to agree that one person's cup of tea/favourite listening isn't going to be another's. So it is inevitable that what one find intellectually stimulating, is boring to another person (remember there is a whole raft of folk out there who would dump the whole of prog into a bin labelled "Boring" - or under some other derrogatory label). I think it is reasonable here for me to say I've found some Radiohead boring - but it was throw away line, in context with what I thought were abbrieviated statements. With time and fuller consideration I wouldn't have used a sloppy term like 'boring' - instead "musically dry and something I can't always get my head around", would be better from my viewpoint.

Now I read what you thought of my "opinion" three times, before I realised you were taking the Michael, and my reply was duly lighthearted (as well as being probably lightheaded). But I was sorely tempted to write that the best info provided here is in the form of opinions - people regularly ask for opinions, e.g. about the best albums of the 90's, psychedelic albums, and get responses in the form of opinions.

As Peter Rideout will now tell you, I'm ancient, so I've heard and read many negative comments about the music I really like - for instance, to those who say "I don't like jazz", I have had three responses;

a) "you'll grew up one day" - which I long dropped

b) "what particular form jazz don't you like then" - which I still use occasionally, to remind those people that they only probably heard trad jazz played badly in a pub

c) "Oh never mind" - life is too short to argue and to explain.  Who knows if they might later discover for themselves the errors of their ways. With Radiohead I will persist, because I find their work interesting and innovative. Besides if we all liked the same things and didn't "debate" on occasion, wouldn't life be limited and boring?
