Theres something in each of their sounds that falls into more the alternative rock genre than Progressive rock genre in my opinion ... I grew up listening to the old Prog titans and I am looking for the same synergy, combined talent, focus,  raw energy, serenity & fusion and above all else well written songs  the older prog bands could provide (before samples and computers played such a big  part) I don`t feel I have to justify myself to you .. but believe me I know my $hit .

I believe those four bands match your description: synergy, combined talent, focus, etc. Maybe they don't sound like the older bands, but that is a good thing. They are all doing something creative and unique.

Prog isn't a sound either (regarding your first sentence); prog is more a state of being. Example: Tool may have a sound that fits comfortably into the modern alt-rock/metal scene, but they are clearly at a higher level of skill, composition, songwriting, etc., and there is no doubt that they are careful and focused. After all, they take four or five years to put out one record, because they make it perfect, to the slightest details.

Ok, then, but can you please explain why you desperately need to have a completely different definition of 'progressive' than the rest of the world ?
so you feel you can talk for the rest of the world do you ? ..

Porcupine Tree for me.   Big Steven Wilson fan, a throwback to 'old school' prog leaders like Fripp.  Great voice as well, his singing is what caught my attention when I first heard In Absentia.

I like PT best, but think that TMV is the most truly "prog" of the four.

They're all absolutely prog(except maybe Radiohead)...

I voted TMV, I like them a little more than PT.

Can't stand Tool and Radiohead
