I'd say Octavarium by Dream Theater. It has a nice build-up, with a very bombastic, orchestrated, and soulful end that sums up everything that happened before in the song... a great piece.

Wondering where the epic of epics is... Thick as a Brick? but nice to Osanna up there, so I voted for it.

Supper's Ready is my favorite. Cassandra Gemini is pretty damn good
though.

EDIT: Yeah that's right where is thick as a brick?

Voted for Suppers Ready. I love the live version on Seconds Out, i know, but
i think Collins fills in for Gabriel very well.

and which part of TaaB do you mean? I think it's the same problem of A pleasant shade of gray.....it's not a song....it's an album!

Thick as a Brick is one big song... it also happens to take up an entire album, but that doesn't change its status.

And just because you don't like KE9 doesn't mean the rest of us don't...

No...it's simply my opinion!!!there are so many things thant I like and no one likes (do you know octavarium by DT?)

Heh, yeah, I'm one of the few people who really likes that song.

Some other notable missing pieces from the poll are Cassandra Geminni (which would have been my vote), Gates of Delirium (which would have been my runner up), Tarkus, and all of the 20 minute + songs from Spock's Beard and The Flower Kings.

Symphony X - Divine Wings of Tragedy

But since that one isn't on the list, I voted Genesis - Supper's Ready

controvertially, I've gone for Transatlantic on this one...

There are a lot of good ones missing, but from this list, I choose Dream Theater.

From those Close to the edge, because it manages to keep a theme and a mood through 18 minutes; but form the ultimate epic is Echoes.
