That's a great idea. I forgot all about that Emmanuel Booz album. Probably one of the best mixes of the two genres.

The great thing about Rate Your Music's top album's chart is that the new filtering system means you can focus on multiple genres. Check this list that contains both symph and avant.


Unfortunately only works if both genres are primary.
Secondary ones as in Van Der Graaf Generator don't show up.
The eclectic prog category on PA has many candidates

I think Van der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers can be considered a mix of symphonic prog and avant prog.
