Mini reviews:

1) Haendel: I remember that Ozgur has already proposed a piece of Haendel, it was taken from Water Music, and I voted for it, because Haeandel's Water Music was one of my favorite classical music during my youth. Here, on the other hand, Ozgur offers us a slow piece for harpsichord, a plucked string instrument whose sound I really like. The atmosphere is clear and sweet as often happens in baroque music, very intimate and sophysticated, perhaps without reaching ecstasy. Definitely a refined piece. I dont know if I will vote for Haendel again.

2) Wintergatan. Beautiful video, where you can see this handcrafted machinery, the Marble Machine (actually a natural synthesizer, but connected to an electric guitar to simulate the rhythm section: drums and bass). The machine is extraordinary in its versatility, and the musician could be compared to a carpenter. A miracle of musical arrangement. However, if I limit myself to listening to the music produced, the pleasure in listening is not as great as the pleasure of seeing the video (or it is not as great as the surprise of seeing this musical machine, which is truly a brilliant invention).

3) Tracy Chapman. I love Chapman's debut, I can say that I know it by heart, including this song, which has the advantage of being a blues both in vocals and in lyrics. Short but intense. I don't know if it will be on the podium but my heart is with Tracy.

I have to look at these three as top contenders for me right now.
While I love pipe organ music there are better compositions and performances that I would gravitate towards personally. Same with the vocal selections, some nice entries here and wonderful voices, but not enough to wow me.
I can't remember if Özgür said mulitracks, loops or overdubs were permissible but I choose to not favour them over single artist, single instrument options.
That left me with...
Barre Phillips - Dear Doctor a moody cello piece with the kind of dissonance I like in these types of pieces
Talon - Falla: Fantasía Bética a piano piece that I can very well imagine Keith Emerson performing in his heyday
Estas Tonne - Song of the Golden Dragon an uptempo guitar piece that just screams out for a full on backing band

Thanks for the PM, Ozgur. I think I'd prefer the Tracy Chapman song, if you don't mind. Less popular than Janis's famous tune and viscerally and emotionally far more heavy.

I've been quite busy today. I'll place the nominations in the option spaces a couple of hours later. So, anyone can still participate. The voting period will last about 6 days. Everyone will have plenty of time to listen to all the nominations and then vote. So, this would not be a belated joining.

Angelica Garcia - Guadalupe

This is awesome! With a little bit of technical equipent you can do a lot and independently. Did you introduce her in a previous poll?

I think she was my very first nominee in the second interactive poll (I voted in the first but did not nominate).

I also nominated her in the female singer-songwriter poll and mentioned her in another.

When I was five. My family lived in Germany for a year and we took a trip to Switzerland. While I am sure it was beautiful, my lasting takeaway as a five-year old was Toblerone is great.

Switzerland.

I traveled by car through Switzerland to go to Germany twice. I remember the steps of San Bernardo and San Bernardino. I remember a motorway restaurant named Heidi.

I visited Locarno and Hermann Hesse's house in Montagnola.

I stayed for 5 days in Dornach (train to Basel plus tram that takes you out of town), in a house in front of Rudolf Steiner's Goetheanum, which I visited far and wide. But I don't know German! I taught 3 years in a Steiner's high school in Milan, the only Steiner's high school in Italy.

I stayed 4 days in Geneva (direct train from Milan). Gorgeous. Then I took with difficulty (I could not find the stop, and it was night) a bus that was going to Annecy.

Just that.

It was one of most beautiful places I visited in Europe. And how can you NOT love statues of giants eating children? LOL

@Özugür - I will nominate: Rain Monsters by Gideon Freudmann. I'll note that in my first post (page 2).

I was quite undecided about my nomination. But given that we have quite a few piano/organ pieces this time around I'll go with the electric cello piece with a bit of a rocky flavour.

That's interesting! I'm familiar with the anthroposophical philosophy to some extent. I have lived and studied in Basel and have several friends who are anthroposophs. I suppose you know that Beppe Assenza, an Italian painter who hailed from Sicily and studied i.a. at the Brera Academy in Milan, founded the Goetheanum Art School?

Yes, I miss living next to the sea as well.  You could see Catalina Island from many of the homes in my hometown of San Pedro.  I also lived in Santa Cruz for quite a few years, a few blocks from the beach there.  Still may make one more move to be near the ocean, I've learned to never say, "this is the last move for me!"

That was very cute, Mila, made me smile.  Smile

No, California is my home state, I've moved a lot, also lived in Colorado and Tennessee; back and forth over the years.  I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, way out on a peninsula, but LA proper was very convenient to my little port town, so we did get to see plenty of fantastic live music during those years, several venues being even closer than LA, as well as the ones up in LA and Hollywood.

My son spent a summer studying in Switzerland, in Geneva, he just loved it there and would not balk at the chance of returning.  You are lucky to live in such a beautiful country.
