The laser harp is one of my all-time favorite instruments -- even if it is just a simple MIDI triggering device. The effect is way cool.

Hi,

And I wouldn't wish her to (work with TD again), however, as you can see on the piano, why she is such a good ARRANGER and was able to help TD make updates, changes and improve the performances with both herself and then Iris to create a very strong group with magnificent material.

It would not surprise me, to see a piano driven bunch of TD pieces released on a CD, though, something that TD would not be able to stop from happening, not to mention that they would also get a few goodies off it.

A lot of TD's music is very difficult, because there is so much happening at the same time. We just do not have the complete ear for a whole lot beyond a stupid melody, in order to appreciate the completeness and design of the whole thing.

Reminds me of the recent DD thing on TFTO and in one of the pieces (either 3rd or 4th -- have to hear them again), Chris Squire is in the background, really low, and his dancing on an incredible volcano piece of music is understated and at a low level that only a sharp ear can appreciate ... it is, ultimately, incredible and insane, and makes one wonder one thing ... how the fudge does someone create that? It's that insane, and something that 99 out of 100 bass players will never do because they don't have the ear or the ability to add to anything they hear! Linda, for me, was a very important part of what "made" TD work, and I think that Edgar appreciated that a lot.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Thanks for letting me know. I've since corrected my mistake and the China concert is now in its proper place in the Jean Michel Jarre chronologie. Thumbs Up

I believe Linda does not intend to collaborate with a post-EF TD.

I thought Metamorphoses and Teo & Tea were both quite good, and worth paying for (which I did). Some of his other recent material smacks of an attempt at "modernizing" his sound to attract a younger audience. I'm not sure it worked.

Oxygene 7-13 is where I stop, though I did buy (and eventually sold) AERO. I also "investigated" subsequent releases. Not impressed by the Electronica volumes (though listenable) nor Oxygene 3 and (especially) the dreadful Amazonia. A friend had some unkind words for Oxymore. That's all I'll say about that.

That doesn't sound very promising. The last JMJ album I bought on CD was Images: The Best of Jean Michel Jarre (1991) and I haven't heard any albums beyond that up until today, so I'll Rendez-Vous back with you later this week when I've listened to them all. Smile

^ For me, Tangerine Dream's two best eras  by far were 1992-1996 and 2005-2014, which just happened to be the two eras when Linda Spa was in  the TD  line-up. Heart Smile

...

Hi,

I wrote to her a couple of years back and she replied very nicely and thanked me, for the poem. It was a poem about a rose opening up in the sun in the morning. She was surprised that someone would write a poem for her, it seemed to me, however, I am not sure that the feeling reverberated to help her create some new music.

As mentioned, she was an "arranger" and I think that her ability in TD was to make sure that the new orchestrations of the various pieces, with herself first, then Iris included and then the violin, worked well together and that requires someone with a keen sense of touch and feel about music ... which is probably not as strong if you are a composer, as you would be looking at someone else's music. Your "ideas" or "thoughts" would ot be in place when you are putting together your own piece, whereas when you are working on someone else's a lot of the feeling vibrations are already in place and only require to be extended or redefined. And I don't think that she missed very many points with it, not to mention do an excellent job on saxophone and flute, both of which were also utilized within the electronic and symphonic design of things with us not even knowing it, it it was done as a "sample"

I keep hoping to hear from her, but I'm not sure it will happen anymore. Sometimes, waiting for forever is a good thing, but I would not be surprised if she had just about quit it all ... and I have a feeling that she wanted to be personally involved with Edgar and it did not go far enough for her. That's a feeling, not necessarily a reality. He would have been her "mentor" in a lot of ways. And one day, the mentorship was gone like a brick on the wall taking you out for good!

And honestly, I think that TD should have made an attempt to work with her at least one more album or two to see if something could be done, but I wonder if someone's ego felt that she would be in the way with her more symphonic and classically minded style that Edgar favored all of his life, including his experiments!
