Yeah, I guess that isn't as satisfying as when he launches them over the outfield wall.
Which he did AGAIN today.

16 pitches and Mulder is on the DL again. LaRussa is upset with management for not going after anyone and waiting to see if Carpenter and Wainright come back. Not a good time in Cardinal Nation right now.

I just got back from the Tigers game against the Indians. The Tigers were down 6-0, but scored 1 in the 6th, 5 in the 7th, and a walk-off 2-run homer by Miguel Cabrera in the 9th inning to win the game 8-6. To top it off in the top of the 9th inning the Indians had a guy on 3rd base with 1 out, and Carlos Guillen made a heck of a play at 3rd base to rob the Indians of a base hit, and then threw the guy on 3rd out at the plate. The Tigers are 3 1/2 games behind the Twins for 2nd place, with a huge 4 game series this weekend going in to the All Star break. Unfortunately, the Royals played favorites with the White Sox over the Tigers, by allowing the Sox to come back and win both games this week so the Tigers are still 7 games behind the Sox.
The Tigers appeared dead in the water once again against Paul Byrd. Fortunately, he was pulled with a 6 to 1 lead and having thrown only 87 pitches or so. Anyhow, it was a great victory for the Tigers especially since they need as many possible to make up ground on the Twins and the Sox.

Yanks win both games of a two-game series against Tampa. Now we're rolling!

Yeah, especially if Harden stays healthy. It seems odd that the A's would make this trade when Harden still had another year left on his contract. They must have spotted something they didn't like in him.

YES! Yanks beat the Rays 5-0. Deff an important game. And a great one, Pettite pitched 8 full innings, 0 runs. Yanks got alot of hits, AND with people on base. Good game for them.

Not to mention the fact that Zambrano was near the top of the list in "Pitcher Abuse Points" (the statistical measure of the degree to which a pitcher has been overused) when he hit the DL.

I'm not sure that the Cubs aren't guilty parties in those injuries. They definitely abused Wood, and I think they abused Prior too.

It wouldn't be anything new with the Cubs and what they have dealt with Prior and Wood.

Just watched Kuroda almost pitch a perfect game against the Braves a one out double in the 8th was the only hit. One of the best pitched games I have seen in quite a while. It was like every batter came up 1-2.

Am I the only one who's pissed about Varitek making the All-Star team? The guy has been absolutely horrendous at the plate this season. In sabermetrics a common measurement of a player's value is the Value over Replacement Player, where a "replacement player" is defined as a hypothetical AAA call-up at that position. Varitek is currently 2.4 runs WORSE than the replacement player. Maybe they should put a catcher from the Red Sox farm system on the All-Star team.

Well, I guess it's a good trade because the Indians were gonna lose him anyway at the end of the season and they're not in contention for the playoffs.
And as awesome as Harden is, he's just too fragile. He's made like 4 starts in each of his last two years.

So what's the deal with C.C and the Brewers. Good or Bad trade. I hear that the Cubs and making a play for Rich Harden or the A's.

I just got back from the Yankee game. Yanks won in 10 as rookie Brett Gardner hit a walk-off single. It was his third hit ever.
I've never seen an umpire call a more lopsided strike zone. Girardi was absolutely right to argue the pitch he got thrown out about; that pitch must have missed the strike zone by five inches. Everything that Wakefield threw got called a strike, and Jaba could be two inches closer to a strike and have it called a ball. It was ridiculous.

Cubs 7-1 over the Cards today. It wasn't a good day for Cardinal nation.
