I know that Hughes is doing some rehab stuff right now, as is Carl Pavano--not that he'll make it back to the Show before he hurts himself again.

Did they skip Razner? I though Mussina was pitching the final game.

Some Triple A news....Ian Kennedy pitched 21 scorless innings in a row after 3 starts. His resurgence to the Yankee club is imminent. Goodbye Razner/Ponson.

He's convinced me that he's good enough to win 20.  Whether he will get it or not will probably come down to some amount of luck.

Yea, it was great. And I am still very impressed at how the Yanks have gone on without Wang.
Think Mussina will make it to 20 wins this year?

Plus, Molina had caught Jared Weaver several times in LA, so he knew exactly what was coming.

Brian Bruney pitched the ninth, that's the first time he's been playing since he hit the 60-day in April.  I had totally forgotten he was on the team.  Now I see why they could trade Farnsworth; they had a better reliever about to come off the DL.

So.................how about that home run Molina just hit LOL

Oh, and now he's 3 for 3. A statement game anyone?
*Molina thinking to himself* Psssshhhh...who needs Pudge?

And yes, it is only one game and I know I-rod's BA is much higher than Molina's
but still

Pudge has got about 70 points of batting average on Molina, so no doubt he's gonna be more effective at the plate.  Behind the mask....well, they're both defensive players of the highest caliber.

I actually think Nady will surge it, that guy is great. After his first hit he was rollin'. Rodriguez just needs to just have decent at bats, he's too anxious right now. We'll see how far he can take the team, but he will be a more reliable bat then Molina.

Some of the Yankees are not living up to their reps. Robinson Cano is rapidly hitting better, but Melky and Giambi are not doing their job. They need a decent hitter behind the plate now it seems.

As you said, Molina's offensive struggles are not out of the norm for most catchers...I think we've been spoiled by Jorge Posada. But how effective will Pudge be? I don't know because I don't watch the Tigers...but do you think he'll be able to spark an offensive surge?
And yea, Cano has gotten HOT in the second half like always...too bad no one else has. They lost todays game  1-0  Wacko

Giambi is still dealing with that steroid er um intestinal issue that he had a season or two ago.

Ah, well I heard a few on TV at least
But I still hope Pudge will work out, at the least its a low risk, good reward move
I wonder how often he will play? He IS pretty old, and I hope they don't take away too much from Molina who has thrown out, what...around 47 or 48% of steal attempts? Those are....well, Pudge Rodriguez numbers

I was there today and I heard no boos.  Plus, he got by far the loudest cheer from the crowd when they were announcing the lineups.

Yea, the allure of the pin stripes must be tough to resist.
But you do have to deal with the New York fan base.
Pudge was up for his first at bat and ended up striking out, and the crowd booed him. His FIRST at bat as a Yankee, welcome to New York I-Rod!
LOL

And for the record, the Red Sox are a good team and will probably gel around their new lineup...but with Manny gone and far from the Yankees hair, well....they better capitalize.

Pudge wasn't happy being platooned with Brandon Inge.  Official word was that they were doing it in order to give Pudge's old bones more rest so he would be fresher when he did play.  Quite frankly it seemed to work since his batting average improved pretty significantly after they started the platooning.  Inge went on the DL and Pudge was doing most of the catching and playing pretty well, so I think that he was kind of upset over being platooned again when Inge came off the DL.  I'm sure that he was feeling dissed being that he is probably a hall-of-famer (assuming he doesn't go down the McGwire/Bonds path away from the Hall).  I think the ulterior motive of the platoon however, was to determine whether or not Inge could go back to being an effective catcher so that the Tigers wouldn't have to submit to Pudge's demands for a long-term contract.

Given that this team was penciled into the World Series before the season even began and the fact that they are in 3rd place and struggling to stay above .500 I am sure there is probably much conflict and bickering behind the scenes too.  And of course, the Yankees are the Yankees.  It may not be easy to play in New York but I am sure that it has to be quite a thrill to don the pinstripes.  Oh well.  I was never that big of a Pudge fan, but he did mean a lot to the city of Detroit for his part in helping bring the team back to respectability.

Manny is off the Red Sox!!!!
At first i was surprised, I mean they put up with his bullsh*t for all these years because of his amazing production, so why do it now? But my brother, who's a red sox fan, has told me Manny basically stopped trying. That he was taking 6 seconds to WALK to first base....

I've never liked Manny for a lot of reasons, and this is it....what an ass. I mean we all hear storied of athlete  tired with your team, but if you wanna play baseball stick it out till the end then do your business. IMO the guy is a 100% jerk, and I actually feel bad for the Sox.....they had no choice.

The Pirates will match the Phillies record for losing seasons this year and set the new record next year after these last two trades. These trades were not about rebuilding the club rather than lightening the payroll.
