Besides you should know that a lot of Beefheart stuff has two or more meanings at the same time.

She undresses and shows
the garden gnome
she hid underneath her clothes -
it smiles... it shrieks and runs away
farting in your nose.

As sure as a rombat is not a wodent
I know that a wombat is not a rodent
I can tell that in reality
My mind's in a state of marsupiality.

He ran his fingers slowly through my hair and gently caressed my neck. Fingers trembling with passion I took his free hand and directed it to my bosom. With a confident hand he began to caress my breast. A subdued moan escaped my lips.

[^^ Oops, Scott, no time to read all that now … Anyway, here’s my lyrics to The Rodent’s Quest. I’m sorry if the story is a bit confusing at points, but I make up for that by including a noble hero, mourning cows, a fierce beast, a fight and cheering wombats — true hallmarks of great poetry.]

THE RODENT’S QUEST

The Rodent heard the cattle cry,
their voices sad and sore
Then he yelled his battle cry:
"The cows shall cry no more!"

He walked across the cattle field
The moo cows watched him go
He headed for the battle field,
prepared to meet his foe

Along the road the Rodent rode,
towards the Humblebee’s abode
The fishing rodents gleamed and glowed
And soon he met the Dorian Toad

Dorian Toad:
Go away, obnoxious rodent!
I will destroy you
and feast upon your eyeballs!

If you dare to open your eyes
and see who I really am
you will have a shock!

There have been others

I crushed their skulls like flowers of glass
Then I devoured them
and handed out to anglers
their toes and tapeworms

You’re the defenseless
stupid, dirty rodent!

(kazoo solo)

He rode into the combat zone,
he killed the beast and travelled on
When he reached the wombat zone
he realised that he had won

The wompire whirled and wined with glee
and played a playful womphonee
The toad was known as Humblebee
At last
the wombats
were free!

Voice from the pond:
I’m not defeated
I’ll be back and I will find you
I am the tadpole.

The Car Medley part 4

Speed along the highway, honey I want it my way
But listen to her daddy's song, don't stay out to long
Were just busy hidin', sitting the back seat of my car
The lazy lights are pretty, we end up in Mexico City
But listen to her daddy's song, makin' love is wrong

Took the car and drove off the hills
Saw the flashing lights and saw them die.
I left behind society that kills
Me and Nancy waved them all good-bye.
I took the car the sun was going down

Don't you get it I don't want to buy your car
Don't you get it I don't want to buy it
Don't you get it I don't want to buy your car
Don't you get it I don't want to buy your car

Come on dad gimme the car tonight
Come on dad gimme the car tonight
I got this girl I wanna....
Come on dad gimme the car
Come on dad gimme the car tonight
I tell’ya what I’m gonna do
I’m gonna pick her up
I’m gonna get her drunk

Don’t he realise this is respectable street?
What d’you think he bought that car for?
’cause he realise this is respectable street

The telephone is ringing
You got me on the run
I'm driving in my car now
Anticipating fun
I'm driving right up to you, babe
I guess that you couldn't see, yeah yeah
But you under my wheels

I'm in my car, cruisin to the beat
Trippin off, off these money hungry freaks
Wanna be down, wit a super star
Cuz you know I got money an a cold blooded car

Cuz I got it front to back, an side to side
But I ain't got time
I gotta do my thang
An if you wanna front you know I can hang
Now you know that I never wanna perpetrate
Cuz y'all playa hate
you fools better recognize
That a No Limit Soldier is on the rise

She drove her mother’s car, ’twas a 2cv
I was most impressed by her casual dress
I was most impressed
Inside her rented room colored deepest blue

drivin' faster in my car
falling farther from just what we are
smoke a cigarette and lie some more
these conversations kill
falling faster in my car

Toot toot chugga chugga

Big red car

Driving fast and we driving faaaaaaaaaaaaaar

Toot toot chugga chugga

Big red car

We gonna drive the whole night long

She’s daughter to the mayor,
Messin’ with the sheriff,
Drivin’ in a blue car,
She don’t see no red light.

Runnin’ out of lightbulbs
Cloudy, cloudy
Open to a wastecan
Yellow car, yellow car

Sell me your soul
And I'll make you a star
Fantasies turned realities
And a Cadillac car
Watch them hero worship

you don't have to see it or feel the urgency yet,
I rely on my instinct it really helps me,
the car is waiting,

I'm messing in the dark and feeling all alone
I got ice in my fire got heat in my wire
Inject a little heat I'm burning up the tyres
Sidewalking
Talking like I'm on and I'm the only one
I'm making like I'm done and staring like a gun
And I got to get a car
And I got to get a ride
Gotta get a car

It's a burning car
It's a burning car

Well the desk porter laughed
News of our legend and our exploits
Travelled car
From bell-hop to hired car

My Mother the Car

My Mother the Car

You could call me a car lover
Cos I love it in a motor
And the way it feels
To ride around on new wheels
I hardly know you

Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarma Police

Where’d you park the car?
Where’d you park the car?
Clothes are all over the furniture
And I might as well
I might as well
Sleepy jack the fire drill

Move,
Down the road
I go.

have you ever had a ride in a light blue car?
have you ever stopped to think
who's the slave and who's the master?
have you ever had trouble with your

Riding on a big white butterfly
I turned my back away towards the sky
I closed my eyes to look for something
Saw myself as really nothing

In Corsica
The engines blew
Your favorite writer died
In a car
In a crash

and you sing so sad marie marie marie marie i got two weeks in back pay
there's gas in my car and your folks say i must go i said,
"hey, pretty girl don't you understand i just want to be your loving man"
marie marie marie marie playing
guitar on the back porch i leave in my car

The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumpin’
And the hub caps all gleam

I’m in love with my car

I’m in love.......... wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiith myyyyyyyyyy caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!

Ta daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!!
