The Tigers are up 2 games over the White Sox with 6 games to go.  Glad to see the White Sox go on a major losing streak at the end.  The Tigers are in good shape with the Sox having to play 3 more against the Rays.  I won't count any chickens yet though as the Tigers have been awful on the road this year.

You guys are so close, and yet so far away. Wink Although if they make the right adjustments next year, the Pirates might end up offering worthy competition for the NL Central.

Or maybe not. It's the Buccos after all.

Speaking of the NL Central, glad we (finally) clenched a playoff spot. Now just a win against the Dodgers tonight and tomorrow night and we'll have the NL Central locked up. Looking forward to it.

Yes it will be. I'm looking forward to seeing who gets the axe after this. Huntington? or Hurdle?

At .500 right now and losing again today. And lo and behold....Aramis Ramirez goes yard on us.

It will be a real bummer if they don't at least finish over .500.

What a meltdown by the Buccos. This is more epic than the Braves meltdown last year.

Phew.  Valverde comes through with the save and Tigers win 5 to 3 to move back to 2 games of the Sox.

Make that 3 hits to the first 3 batters he faces plus 1 run. Angry

3 hits were to the 8-9-1 hitters, and then thankfully he gets the 2-3-4 hitters to make outs and maintain a 5 to 3 lead. It is going to be a nail biter though with Valverde in the 9th.

What is it with managers and being stupid???  Fister throws 99 pitches in 7 innings, only giving up 2 hits; both of them solo home runs.  Fister had retired the last 14 batters he faced.  So Leyland brings in Benoit, who hasn't pitched in 6 days, and he manages to give up 2 hits to the first 2 batters he faces.  WTF????

8th Inning and the Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out.  Jackson strikes out and then lo and behold on a 1 and 2 count Andy Dirks hits a single and the Tigers score a run.  Bases are still loaded and one out with "the big fella" at the plate, and Cabrera grounds into a double play. Angry  Heaven forbid the Tigers break open a game.

6-4 force out and the Tigers do not score a run with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs for the one thousandth time in a row this season.  This is so god damned frustrating.

Top of the 7th.  Tigers lead the White Sox 3 to 2.  Tigers have the bases loaded, one out and Fielder at the plate.  He is facing Veal and apparently lefties are 0 for 19 against him.

Make that 0 for 20.  Fielder lines out to 2nd base and it is now Delmon Young's turn to strand 3 baserunners.

wow.  12 to 2 loss to the Cubs while committing 7 errors.  That version of the Pirates hasn't been around that much this year.

Haven't been to a game so late in a season, but I'm going to see the Jays/Red Sox on Sunday next week.  Two teams who've been out of it for a good few months, but at least it will be my first time in the VIP section of the Rogers Centre.

Drew's cousin Jason Donald dove into my bosses' seats tonight.  LOL He sold his seats and wasn't there today, but still got a laugh out of it.

A Dutch court acquitted the brother of Seattle Mariners' Greg Halman for his murder due to a temporary psychosis.  http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8316892/court-acquits-brother-seattle-mariners-greg-halman-fatal-stabbing  Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

Not to mention I never thought the Sahx would ever unload $262 million in salary at once (I might be off a few million in either direction, since that number is just from memory and not a cited source).

Either way though, it looks like the Dodgers just became huge favorites in the NL on paper at least. We'll see how it works out in the last month or so of the season. And the Sahx are cleaning out the books to start rebuilding.
