Yes, and to declare the wild card winner on a single elimination game. And what a strange decision by the Washington's management to put a end on pitcher's year in September... And what a confusion with the infield hit rule against the Braves on play in the Outfield.

I agree with you guys. When i heard there would be a second wild card team i didn't know that just mean't they'd play a one game elimination game to see who would go on. I don't agree with that at all.
And the team with the better record starting off on the road makes no sense to me either. Hopefully they'll get it right in the coming years.

Yes, truly a strange set of occurrences during the last few weeks.

And next year because of Houston being moved to the American League, there will be an interleague game played just about every night.

Enjoy the game today Scott, it will be cool so keep warm.
I know the Cards were big underdogs in that game but it's pretty much the same team that won the World Series so i thought they would somehow find a way to win it, even if it was ugly.
Wouldn't surprise me if Texas fires their manager because someone will become the scapegoat.

That first game was certainly a dissapointment.  I wasn't even rooting for Atlanta (or even St Louis), but yechh!!!

Been quite neglectful here but I have been following the season lol
What a final month. Yanks and Os had one helluva struggle there, huge props to the Os for their success.
The toughest 95 wins the Yanks have had in a long ass time, and I think it was probably good they had to struggle for once. They proved they actually CAN play baseball! I was real worried they would choke.

But they're in the playoffs, everyone is healthy now, a few players are streaking...there are issues but what team doesn't have any? I'm more confident than usual.

Huge congrats to the Oakland As and of course Miguel Cabrera. Awesome achievement.
Oh, and RA Dickey nabs 20 wins, a good guy and lone bright spot on a miserable 2012 mets team.

An amazing accomplishment, i didn't think anyone would do this again. Tigers will have their hands full. I don't know how the A's do it i mean it should be a mismatch playing the Tigers but these guys believe in themselves.
The Rangers have to be very nervous today knowing it could be all over for them in one single game. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Orioles win.

The Tigers' magic number is 1.  One win from the Tigers or one loss from the White Sox and they have a date with either the Yankees or Orioles.

And the Yankees are in.

The division winner, however, remains in limbo.

Nice no-hitter by Homer Bailey last night.

Yankees moved one step closer to clinching a playoff spot and the division.

The Braves have clinched the wild card.  I'm going to one of the last regular season games tomorrow.  Even though the games "don't matter" anymore, lots of fans will be flooding the stadium to catch Chipper Jones one last time before he retires.  He's had a great, long career with the Braves, and he's the one guy you could always get a straight answer from in the news -- he felt free to say things (honest, but never hurtful) that the coaches didn't want to.  He was the heart and soul of the team, and he'll be moving on now.  I expect he'll continue to the be a key part of the organization  in the future.
