Topic: What is your slavery footprint? Posted: July 28 2012 at 18:37 |

The test is a nonsense - it assumes too much. Based on the results in this thread there are more slaves than there are people on the planet. Current estimates predict (guess) there are between 2.7 and 100 million people working in conditions that could be regarded as slavery - with around 500million people living in the western world enjoying the benfits of that slave-labour we each "own" 1/5th of a slave. It's still not a number to be proud of, it should be zero. |
Let's have a look at your basement then. Mebbeee our slaves our multi-tasking. Yes, it is a silly poll, but I thought we could have a little fun with it.

I decided to change my lifestyle overnight and got 158 slaves working for me now.
On the other hand, if I had to believe what I said in this survey, I'm a morbidly obese trillionaire.

I have never owned any slaves yet so without answering that test I can say mine is zero.

I have 25 slaves. And looking at the state of the house and the garden they are not very hard working. When I find them I will give them a piece of my mind!
(Edit went down from 30 to 25 due to changes in medicine stuff)

According to this survey, 21 people worked on the stuff I own in the conditions of slavery. But I'm not really sure about all my answers (especially about food and clothes) and I wonder if this survey shouldn't also take in count some other points, such as : - how old is the electronic equipment? - where and/or when were bought the clothes? - what if I buy coffee or eat food from "fairtrade" brands (if this trade is really as "fair" as these brands claim it)?

I would never mistreat them and I would feed them as well as possible.

24. Apparently one of them is in Denmark. I guess it’s that butter guy, Lurpak.

Your hands are clean, you live out in the wilderness and have never bought anything.

I disagree with the general methodology if that is what you mean by that. You can trace your dollars back to anything at all. It's kind of stupid. Much like the entire design of that website which frustrated me and caused me to not get the number they would assign to me.

That isn't what you get when you run the thing to it's max is it? Wait, I'll get back to you. You have some parameters that you can really max out and still keep going. I made it up to 116.
