I think it should be up to each person how many options he wants to choose from. Maybe have the same poll with every possible variation of choices.

I could do that, but I'm afraid of the "hogger" song taking all the votes and not getting a feel for 2nd 3rd place etc. Or you may ignore the "biggie" and go for another just because. I'm starting to think 5 with parts and the top 2 or 3 move on to further rounds.

Two song polls always present a false dichotomy. I like at least four or five options. Voted for 8 - 10. Up to 15 is okay I guess, more than that is too many and invevitably include selections I am not familiar with.
