She is one of the best 80's prog musicians for sure! Up there with IQ and Marillion definitely!

I'm not sure of a singer, but Richard Williams from Kansas wears an eyepatch.

Iīm glad to see your reply. Thanks for your opinion, this seems a fun thread even Michel Jacsonīs one remained a week in the prog lounge. 
Yes, I wanted initially to emphasize that fact youīve just insist so good before: The love Madonna showed in making jams with her DJīs, which resulted in some very interesting songs with evident progPOP movements, or with continous changes. These changes in the FIRST MADONNAīS ALBUM gives it a huge dancing and electro funk (well said CPicard,  ) atmosphere that goes progressing along nearly all the tracks. After this, I īdonīt find Madonnaīs career interesant for me cauze there are poppy albums. nothing more.
But this one, is a perfect sample of the conjuction of several factors since pop-rock ītil the jamming and progresive movements. An album that anybody must listen to before daring to comment any type of harmful arguments, just to avoid sound ridiculous.

I want to say that Madonna's use of the cone bra actually had a big influence on Peter Gabriel. After years of writing pop music Mr. Gabriel's sighting of Madonna in the cone bra brought back fond memories of his days of elaborate stage costumes from when he sung for the prog band Genesis. Seeing her in the cone bra made him long for those days again and thus the change in his later albums to a more progressive style.

Apparently, Guy Ritchie is making a film about a prog band that got involved with gansters........not....
Hang on a minute.Stray were managed by Charlie Kray. Perhaps Madonna could play the Kray's mother.They luvved their old mum,they did.

Hi,
I'm more inclined to think that Madonna ended up copying and doing a more popular version of Kate Bush ... whereas Kate is more reserved and literate as a person, Madonna was at least shrewd enough to know how she could get attention and get on the stage in America and succeed at it.
I often think of Madonna as a more publicity driven machine ... where as Kate Bush would be more of an artist and less interested in the millions to support her life style. Not sure that this is about greed ... one certainly can not say that Madonna has taken the money and run like so many others out there.
To my ears, she has a very good ear and eye for music and displaying it ... I would have liked to see her direct videos and film itself (not her ex!) ... because she does have a very good visual sense, and it shows in her concerts, albeit for my personal preference I would rather see Kate Bush perform as I find the music much more valuable to me than Madonna's ... and if we are discussing "progressive", I could easily say that Kate is much more exploratory and creative and what she puts together is not "just another song" ... I still think of a lot of it as a stream of consciousness poetry ... and in thsi sense Madonna is mostly songs.

Confessions on a Dance floor is a very well produced album that was made as an album with continuous music. While I'm sure the continuous music and longer songs on this excellent album were inspired more from techno DJs than prog rock, the album provides musical pleasure similar to some of the prog greats. It has a variety of influences, styles, and tempo changes too....

The "six or seven minutes song" was just a little piece of information. A prog song neither needs to be a long song, but itīs a fact that progressive has usually that lenght in the tracks.
I only said that to remark she use that minutes to built key changes, tempo changes and different rythms...
You might listen to it even you donīt like Madonna very much. Itīs not a "like a virgin" one. Itīs quite different, I assure you. Listen to others music can surprise us often, and that was a amazing gift ,for me at least.
