If any of you have read Ryu Murakami's gruesome thriller IN THE MISO SOUP (I'm curiously familiar with the Dutch translation) - it literally deals a death blow to Mr Children!

I came across a band recently called "Gatsby's American Dream" I thought it was a joke at first. After I listened to a track, I realised that it is a joke.

the reason they were called genesis was because the guy producing them was inexperienced and it was the first "real" band he had produced, thus the genesis of his career. pretty interesting, i read it in one of those books that's essentially a compilation of useless information.

outside of a few post-rock bands i've never really liked all those bands with the sentence long names (panic! at the disco, fear before the march of flames, etc.). i'm also pretty sick of bands being named "the (pluralized noun)".

I don't think Genesis is a bad name really. I mean it's nothing special, but I don;t think "awful name" when I see/hear it.

Metallica may be generic, but how about The Band, The Music (they don't sound that bad though; simple, but not bad), The The?

There's also Made Out of Babies and These Arms Are Snakes.

What a great name!!!

Do you think the former members of this band left due to name differences rather than musical ones?
Current line-up
Lord Sardonyx - Guitars, Basses (Desalin)
Syntax Function A - Vocals, Drums
Former/past member(s)
M. Shipley - Guitar
C. Lundon - Drums

Basically, it seems like an instance of humor more than anything else.

Renaissance... Genesis... just two amazingly good bands with awfully tasteless names.

oh yeah, and don't forget utter corniness; Vanilla Ninja, Spice Girls, TikTak.
