If this has been discussed before, I appologize, but I just started playing alto sax and I want to listen to some prog with great sax to inspire me (doesn't have to be alto - any sax will do). Doesn't matter what genre; I just want saxophone in my music, and I want lots of it. I'm sure there's a ton of bands out there, so I'm interested to see the different kinds that will come up!

Van der Graaf Generator, King Crimson -- highly recommended.
 
Also: Gnidrolog, East of Eden, Tonton Macoute, Raw Material.
 
Also, you can search here in the forum for threads and polls about saxophone players where you can find plenty of the names; then to relate it to the groups. I hope it'll be helpful.

Besides the excellent recommendations you have already received, I'd like to add Camel with Mel Collins (who also plays with KC), Dick Parry's contributions to Pink Floyd's DSOTM and WYWH, and Traffic (Chris Wood RIP) - "Glad", from their "John Barleycorn Must Die" album, is one of my favourite tracks (instrumental or not) of all times.

As to Gong: All albums of the "Radio Gnome" trilogy have sax in them, as well as "Shamal", "Gazeuse!", "Camembert Electrique", "Magic Brother", "Continental Circus", "Live etc.", "Gong Est Mort - Vive Gong", "Live at Sheffield", "Live on TV" and "Live au Bataclan". Listen to the two free mp3s in the database ("Isle of Everywhere" and "Oily Way"); there is a lot of sax in both. Oh, and be patient with "Isle of Everywhere"; the sax enters after about two minutes or so and has a long solo then.

Lots of good suggestions so far. I'd also recommend Kraan's early albums, which were recorded as a guitar/bass/alto sax/drums quartet. The 1975 Live album is a masterpiece, and Johannes Pappert used effects pedals to coax all manner of interesting sounds from his horn.

One track which simply makes me love sax is the Gumbo Variations from Frank Zappa's Hot Rats. I'd say it's definitely worth basing your style on that.
