Just wondering if the one on the right is any more "PROPER' than the one on the left ? This is where the worry settles in, who decides this , Google ads and its algorithms? Ban both? I just do not know how M@X can get this done....... |
Erm... I will point out the obvious - one's a photograph of two models in skimpy lingerie the other is a cartoon drawing...
...other than that: Rule #34 |
I was not talking about difference but what is PROPER according to a non-human algorithm, whether cartoon, grafitti or picture . Two models , you mean like in a commercial for bras, or women's garments? While the cartooned lady is definitely seductive and sensual by 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s,or current standards, its funny how it survived that long without censorship ?

BTW, Dean, that is a VERY inappropriate comment.

On a similar note, I listened to Styx's The Serpent Is Rising yesterday...

I am trying to figure out who is wanting to advertise what on here and to who? This site is designed for people who are a little bored with the commercial control of radio, TV, music mags and life in general. All the album covers are happily displayed on Google and Amazon and um... everywhere. The only place we can't see the album covers is on the only site where the whole audience wants to see them. It's ok. I will figure this out eventually.

Well, recent ads include a Bang and Olufsen one for Macca's new album and O2 are trying to sell me a new phone, there have been banner ads for Obsidian Kingdom's new album and Metallica's new live DVD, Talk-Talk have tried selling me broadband and Riverford have tried selling me a box of organic vegetables. Google Adsense uses your Google history to target ads at you regardless of what web-site they are on as well as inserting general non-specific ads and a few targetted specifically at us as listening audience. This is no different to having adverts on commercial tv/radio or within the pages of daily newspapers or monthly magazines. Unless you can think of a way of funding this site privately and independantly, adverts are a necessary evil.
Sure, you can see all the album covers uncensored on Amazon and find them elsewhere using a Google search - neither of those use Google AdSense adverts to fund their existence. That each album page has an embedded Amazon & eBay iframe that shows those same album covers uncensored is creating a dilema for Max because he does not know whether those embedded amazon & ebay adverts would cause the page to violate the Adsense terms and conditions...
Yes it is daft, especially in the 21st century with the wide world web giving everyone access to more graphic porn than anyone could have ever dreamed possible 20 years ago, (which had never been seen outside an anatomy medical text book), that Google AdSense informs us:
"Prohibiting sexually explicit pornographic images is straightforward, but publishers often unknowingly overlook some of the more subtle content that can be intended for a mature audience. Examples can include adult toys or fetish sites, sheer/see-through clothing, and lewd or provocative poses (even if clothed) that have sexually gratifying overtones. This rule applies to links or ads that drive traffic to adult or mature content too."
It is clear that whoever sets these corporate policies has never been to an art gallery, a museum, or to the theatre, so they have ever learnt the difference between pornography and art.
That Google object to us having uncensored nipples and buttocks reeks of double standards as they set themselves up as the web's unoffical censor, and there is nothing we can do about it but comply because we need their money to survive.

So... If I remember correctly, historically, nothing was ever banned from people with money. Censorship only happened to something once ordinary or poor people got hold of it. "It's ok for us but the general population can't be trusted to handle it." Looks like not one thing has changed in 100s of years. We need ads(money), so get controlled. Amazon and Google are rich, so can do as they please. Oh well.. the average person visiting this site is rather intelligent and used to the grey boring opinions of corporate life. We can just smile at stupidity and ignore it. that's how I go through life anyway. The nation with the most money will decide for the rest of us. It is good to know that in the future, we will be protected from smokers, fast drivers, naked people and naughty words and we will all carry guns. Ha ha ha. The stronger the connection between all nationalities, the more diluted our choices will become. We will all have to be careful in case we upset the average person. Not one thing that is fun, will be left! Rather sad as the opposite should happen.

^ That's correct, and it is an emerging and perhaps unanticipated problem. And in this case, rock was always one of the few bastions of irreverence and vulgarity. Or it was until those arrogant and arty prog bands starting stinking things up with their fantasy landscapes and sci-fi motifs.

considering the circumstances I cannot fault the board members on PA, it's not their fault, google has gone backwards in time, I mean even James Bond had Pussy Galore, suddenly pure flesh is a sin, lol this is hideous and ridiculous really. Unfortunately due to sponsors we have to conform to others and it's a shame because PA was the one site that people knew that they would not bend down to the norm, 110% prog! All original as it should be, however to run a site like this money is key and one has to bend what they stand for, I just hope it will not discredit the top number one in the world prog known site. This makes no sense to me, Google will show naked pictures eve if they are not sponsored sites by them. This is unfair really. Also to b e fair i.e. Bicycle Race/Fat Bottomed girls wouldn't be so famous if it wasn't for the album cover, even I as a female like it and probably wouldn't think it's awful if it wasn't for that whole package.

Question= Is Google Adsense a monopoly ? Are there other cyber-marketing options or is it a corporate fascist entity (I mean, in dictatorial terms and not in political ones, of course, for the time being ) . Is Google now the new God ? the Unique and sole Arbiter of taste because it has financial power but no brains ? Is their another side to Herr Google-Goebbels or am i not permitted to say that ? Like maybe the Allies in WWII?
Because if they are the only option, we , as a site, as a society and as a race are doomed!
"Cyber-dominance and submission", a new song by the Blue Oyster Cult ! Brought to you by Google ......incredible.....
We were warned once long ago that computers will run our lives , the final scene of "Colossus the Forbin Project"' and in the end, we will all obey , unwillingly at first but eventually we will be grateful for no war, no hunger and no freedom" because a machine will decide everything for mankind.

yep indeed the largest but again this is not the problem, sponsorship to keep this site running, google plays a major role here. PA has to give in to be able to run this but this sucks tho' bah
