I've never smoked it, but I've always maintained legalisation isn't neccessarily a bad thing.

I voted no for lulz but my opinion is exactly the same as Ben's. I think this is my first on topic post in this thread. Edited by A Person - August 25 2010 at 18:29 |

I've never smoked it, either. Nor would I care to. It doesn't appeal to me. But making it illegal here in the states is ridiculous. I'll side with the pot-smokers any day of the week on this issue.

I'm not implying anything Ben.
Though I will say freshman year at uni I had no car, no friends, didnt drink or sleep around was stuck in a tiny run down PA town.... Not much to do for fun that year... Matt is a troll! For the lulz? You silly... And this thread is no surprise. I have known people from across the spectrum, and various ages, various everything that either think it should legal, or just dont really care if someone does. I've never even smoked tobacco, let alone pot.
Still think it should be legalized. |

Actually, the Native Americans smoked tobacco, not marijuana, although the Southwest tribes often used peyote, so that certainly counts for something.
I think the difference between doing something that you enjoy and changing the the chemical composition of your brain through substance abuse is fairly clear.

Never smoked anything, never taken any illegal drugs. I draw the line at alcohol (which I love) and caffeine. I disapprove of its use, but support legalization for freedom purposes.

Also, to anyone that has a single clue about what's happening in Mexico (yes, other things happen there than just immigrants flying over the wall), legalization is the only thing that can put an end to the war and the bloodshed that drug cartels bring about. In Mexico, a few senators and politicians have even started talking about legalization. It would be quite weird if a predominant catholic country run decades by one single party legalizes drugs before the multi-cultural and supposed cradle-of-freedom than the US is.

It would be ironic, like rain on your wedding day. |

Was the use of the name Mary Jane in Spiderman meant to have an extra meaning regarding having something that you want, but can't have? Just wondering?

Forget marijuana, I'd like to see alcohol criminalised. It's the same as guns. The fact is that narcotics and alcohol do have a negative effect on the whole of society. You might not directly murder people through their use, but they are definitely negative. Don't give me that "Oh it's just for me, I can decide what goes in my body" nonsense, we all live on the same planet and in the same society. You messing yourself up is going to affect other people for the worse. However my attitude is a bit like on the burqa. I don't really want it banned as prohibition doesn't work, but I'd like to see the human race outgrow alcohol/drugs. I'm pretty sure they never will though.
But if alcohol was discovered today, it'd never be legalised.

Yeah, you can strip everything down to dopamine and seratonin, although we still don't really understand consciousness, but nothing you do sober alters/obliterates your consciousness in the same way that drugs do.
