It did. I'm still looking into them, mostly Duncans.

Duncans are the secks. I'm only personally slightly biased towards them because I use them and the bridge pickup I have nails the tone I want perfectly, but take a serious look at Dimarzio as well, because neither is any better or worse, Duncan and Dimarzio are both high quality. A friend of mine has the Seymour Duncan Classic Stack STK pickup, which is a very good choice if you need something low output, but with incredibly reduced levels of hum compared to normal single coils, making them an awesome recording pickup.

I'll have to listen to some sound samples; I'm not exactly sure which tone I'm going for, either.

The sound samples aren't that great an indicator of the tone to be honest. You'll more likely to find out on a guitar pickup forum what a pickup sounds like and what type of guitar body woods/playing styles etc, they match too. Obviously the best way to find out what a pickup sounds like is in the flesh. Jackson DK2S guitars have Classic Stacks in them, and the DK2S is made of alder body wood like your strat, and plus Jacksons are around in your average guitar store, so try one out to get an idea of the sound of Classic Stacks. Jackson Soloist SL-3s have Hot Rails in them. As for the JB Jr. they aren't commonly found in most production well known guitar brands I'm afraid, BUT, I do own the full size Humbucker version of them and my friend has a JB full size humbucker in his Jackson, and they will be kinda piercing sounding in a strat, so your best bet is probably not the JB Jr. Although if you have a good amp, you can tame the high end of the JBs, and them being clearer than the Hotrails mean they cut through better at high gain and don't muddy up as much.

I love my Can avatar too much. If someone (either you or lappy) drew a crappy enough version of it I'd be more than happy to use that instead.
