What does that have to do with fact Baseball came west in 1956?

I'm just saying you could have used another team from the West that had a solid season, like the Padres. The Dodgers were mediocre and the Giants have been flat-out BAD since about 2004.

Look Read Mickey's original statement. What has it go to do with any team doing well? The point was baseball moved past St Louis in 1956. Comprende?
BTW the Dodgers were in the playoffs last year not so distant past. They led in the west until early Sept as well this year. The west has the best teams in the NL.

He said GOOD baseball, if you look carefully. I was pointing out that neither team represented GOOD baseball this year.

As an Indians fan, I can't express how embarrassing this game is. Our two best pitchers look like little leaguers out there. Perez was lights out in the regular season, but now he's not pitching much better than I could. Our offense is offensive. Even if Shilling is 103 years old and pitches like it, this game is over in the third inning. As a Browns/Indians fan, I've put up with a lot of crap over the years. But this is too much. I can't watch this. There is always tomorrow, but after that there are no more tomorrows.
But I have learned some important things things this postseason:
1. Sport analysts don't know squat about statistics. Players' career postseason statistics are completely meaningless. I don't care how many career postseason home runs Manny Ramirez has. Half of them occurred last millennium. How is that relevant?
2. I've developed a new game. Take a shot every time one of the announcers mentions the "blood sock." You win if you don't drink yourself to death by the end of the night.
3. Red Sox fans are the most annoying/obnoxious fans in the universe. For years I thought it was Yankee fans. Red Sox fans used to be amusing because they'd talk about how they would no longer be cursed if they could exhume a piano out of a lake, or some nonsense like that. But a World Series victory and three asterisked Super Bowls by the Patriots later, the snobbery is just too much to handle.
4. Jonathon Papelbon is the most annoying person on the planet. If I have to see his interpretation of River Dance one more time, I think I will gouge my eyes out.
5. According to Tim McCarver, pitchers should try aim at batters' heads more often to "keep them honest," or some such nonsense. He should tell that to Ray Chapman. (for those who don't know, Chapman has the dubious distinction of being the only MLB player to die during a game...after he got hit in the head by a pitch).
6. The Rockies will win the World Series in four games. On the night that they win, the first twenty minutes of SportsCenter will be devoted to how the Red Sox lost to "some team." The next twenty minutes will be devoted to what Joe Torre ate for breakfast. The next nineteen minutes, 30 seconds will be devoted to NASCAR and preseason NBA highlights. In the final 30 seconds they will acknowledge that "some team from Colorado" won a game or something. Then they will speculate about what Joe Torre will eat for breakfast tomorrow...

I haven't bothered paying attention to the announcers for a long time. The worst is Yankees radio "color commentator" or whatever Susan Waldman. She has provided us with such useful tidbits of information as:
1. Players improve in the minor leagues. 2. If you give a major league batter something to hit, they will most likely hit it. 3. Stealing a base is only useful if you do it successfully 4. It is good form to pull an outside pitch
Those who don't know, the fourth one is simply factually inaccurate; you pull an inside pitch. 99 times out of 100 pulling an outside pitch will cause bad things to happen to you.

Again, good or bad the statement is irrelevant since the comment was about Baseball in general being played west of St Louis in the first place. If your going to butt into a thread at least read it all the way through!
For laughs:
Are you trying to tell me good baseball isn't contending to your division title until the last two weeks when your best hitter stopped hitting in June, your top three pitchers missed at least half the season with injuries and you started 4 rookies and one second year player? What is your definition of good? Yeah the kids made mistakes ( kids are good btw) but one good pitcher away from being in the playoffs. The two teams that finished for the pennant are from the same division and one of them because they were down right phenomenal the last two weeks. The Padres were in the mix as well. So that means 4 of the 5 teams were right there in Sept. How does that make them Dodgers) bad?

I was stunned by how well the NL West did this season, it was the best division in the National League. I never would have expected Colorado and Arizona to both get playoff berths.
As for announcers.... I can't stand Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. They are the two worst announcers I've ever heard. Joe Buck is bad enough, but Tim McCarver makes it a lot worse. He just says such stupid things during the game that I can't stand. I don't know why he's an announcer....

The Rockies BETTER beat the Sox. And apparently the Red Sox can only make into the world series by going down 3 games.

The Tribe let me down. That fold was second only to the Yankees folding of the BoSox in 2004.

Hmm, all I ever see on the Wikipedia death notices is Baseball coaches that I've never heard of...
I'm sure they're worthy people, but I do look perplexed when I see them all...

World Series Game 1 certainly not the way that the Rockies would have liked it. It is really too bad they had the 8 game layoff. Not quite sure why Clint Hurdle was starting a left-handed pitcher at Fenway Park. I am thinking that the Red Sox were saying thank you very much. We will enjoy hitting the ball over and off of the Green Monster. Hopefully, the remaining games are more interesting than game 1. Grant it the fat lady hasn't sang but 9-1 in the 5th is pretty brutal.

Yep I figured. Last year for Game 1 I was sitting in the seats watching the Tigers lose game 1 against the Cardinals. Similar situation where they had 5 to 6 days off from their last game. Good luck. I hope that your team has better results than mine did last year.
