Will the saddest news of today make the greatest protagonists, Waters and Gilmour bury the axe and reunite for the very last time in order to celebrate the memory of the band's founder and inventor of the name??

They should finally realize that Live 8 gig was not real comeback and it is the last time to do it, since they meet only at the funerals (I know I am copying the reasons that brought VDGG back together)

That should be one album only, without bombastic tours. And an album completely different from what they were doing recently, either as Pink Floyd and solo. Coming back to psychedelia, I am sure their creative geniuses could really impress contemporary music.

After that they should go their own way.

Maybe I am daydreaming, but what's your opinion about it?
yet you still have time!

Perhaps maybe just a tribute show, playing only Syd's music. I think that would be nice.

Maybe if Syd croaked that sentiment from his deathbed, then maybe a snowball's chance.  Otherwise, I would have to say, "No Dice."

The members Pink Floyd right now, and for a long time now, are probably more focused with their own endeavours, and not Pink Floyd's. These endeavours most likely include sailing, flying, and NASCAR, and not music. Consider being lucky for the Live 8 reunion, it is unlikely to ever see Pink Floyd do anything ever together again. Besides, the last thing Syd would have wanted, I presume, was to have a tribute show for him.

No it won't happen.

Did you know Waters was going to offer Andy Latimer the Gilmour guitar/vocal position on his current Wall tour? That would have been awesome, but it didn't work out.

Yeah, his voice is shot...too bad, since not only does his playing resemble Gilmour's, but his voice isn't dissimilar also.

How 'bout a reunion tour with Robyn Hitchcock as Syd? He looks and sounds just like him!

That would be a disgrace to Syd and everything his music stood for, imagination and soul.

A look/soundalike??? Good grief...Rust has it absolutely right when he says the word 'disgrace'. Pink Floyd would never even consider that- and I'm certain of that as the band have constantly paid tributes to him ever since he left and continue to do so to this day- Dave Gilmour played 'Arnold Layne' on his tour this year.

What I think will happen though is a rip off compilation that finally liberates 'Scream Thy Last Scream' and 'Vegetable Man', whilst his work will be sold to a new generation who will seemingly see him as a forefather to some talentless, publicity seeking oik such as Pete Doherty, neglecting the fact that Syd was none of those things but was one of few genuinely unique musicians the rock world has ever created.

I doubt Pink Floyd will ever get back together under any circumstances.

Waters should have let Latimer play guitar and got a specialist in for vocals. Latimer's guitar playing is too brilliant to be missing from the live scene. Shame his voice is gone.

Dave Gilmour played Arnold Layne on Jools Holland's show a few weeks ago with Rick Wright on keys and vocals. Bloody awful it was too, compared to his recent stuff; I've never liked early Floyd. But Gilmour and Wright were the heart of Floyd so getting them back together is a great start. I doubt if Waters will ever get back with those two, since he is alleged to have driven Wright to the edge of a breakdown.

"Shine on you crazy diamond" already stands as a fitting tribute by Pink Floyd.

It sounds cynical or too idealistic but Pink Floyd could organise a Syd Barrett Tribute Concert in order to collect money for several diabetes organisations? I am sure this will give an extra dimension to Money...Wink ...!

charity show would be a nice idea, and really would give a new meaning to "Money" or "Have a Cigar". But I doubt Gilmour would accept it, since he is against great Pink Floyd shows.

Shine On is a great tribute to Syd, but it was recorded in different circumstances - yet Crazy Diamond will never shine again - and I think that Pink Floyd could really cope with final matters, even eschatological - frankly, they never did it, they were always one step before that frontier, even on their saddest and most serious albums.

But maybe you are right, maybe now they are only concerned with their solo careers and are not going to notice that this death closes some epoque of Pink Floyd. Nothing can ever be the same...
yet you still have time!
