The two are most likely the best players of football there have been ..
but Maradona is overall a superior player with impeccable passes,
phenomenal precision, ability to perforate defenses, etc etc ..., even
if his physique and shooting power isn't as good as Pele.

Easily Pele.
Maradona was brought down by the hand of god and cocaine. How's that good for football? Pele's the best ever, 1000 goals is just incredible.

That's how I feel to! One bit of skill of Pele that amazed me was in World Cup (1962, I think) against Uraguay (again, I think!), where he ran at the goalie with the ball, dummied him (without touching the ball) ran round to recover the ball and rolled the ball just a few inches wide of the post...

But you know? Its true, Maradona did (or still does, I dont know ) drugs...but he said it. Myth has it Pele did cocaine also, yet never said anything about it...to keep in mind
And, why are you talking about this guys personal lifes? Ist their hability in the field waht counts?

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”
"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Surely if he'd been any good, he would have scored!

When you find a three times world champion with more than 1,000 goals and who is a gentleman inside and outside the field, then compare him with Pelé, before.......don't even try.
