Like everyone I have my guilty pleasures... bands and/or songs that you love and enjoy alone because most of your prog friends doesn't like that bands and/or songs... Personally that happens to me with some song of Asia (specially "Sole Survivor") and some songs of 80's Yes, GTR, Peter Gabriel's pop years of "So" and "Us"... You know what I mean, those music that you will never recognize in public but... is always in your mind...

I have always liked Steve Hackett's "Cured," but man does it get lambasted
by most people. It surprises me to see that Progadicto considers "So" and
"Us" to be pop albums. They did hit the charts, but I think that was just an
abberant surge of the masses having some good taste.

Stupid post. Who cares what one person considers a "guilty pleasure". If it's enjoyable, listen to it. That's that. I enjoy everything from progressive bands such as Tangerine Dream and King Crimson to mainstream pop bands like Vertical Horizon and Alterbridge. To me, nothing's a guilty pleasure. I would go insane if I could only listen to prog for the rest of my life. But I would also go insane if I could only listen to poppy stuff my whole life.

Asia

Emerson, Lake and Powell

A few of the really sappy Phil Collins ballads "Take A Look At Me Now", "Seperate Lives", etc.

and a few non-prog instrumentals like the 70's "Joy" (by Apollo 100?), "Popcorn" and the classic "Telstar".

There. I said it. Even my wife laughs at me.

"they locked up a man who wanted to rule the world.
the fools
they locked up the wrong man."

I rather like Yes' 90125, though of course is not my favourite album by the band. However, I agree with Coffeeintheface that the whole question of "guilty pleasure" is quite pointless. I tend to dislike overtly commercial music, but sometimes I happen to enjoy songs that, according to some people, I am not supposed to.

Just as one shouldn't be criticized for what they listen to, neither should
their post be called stupid.

I actually love Yes' 90125. I'm a child of the 80's and that era really
introduced me to Yes.
