I know, I surprise myself too sometimes. It's the kind of metal I dig, too.

This is great! The sub genre was just too big for all those bands, leaving many neglected and hard to find!

Cool. I don't think I know people's tastes well (okay, in regards to some people on this site - I do), I just know mine and assume everybody else shares the same. Glad to hear you enjoyed them, it's one of my favourite bands right now and they're getting better with each release! What's not to like?

ive been exploring the new genres and have a few questions.
Opeth, Tool, Devin Townsend, and Dead Soul Tribe. experimental/post metal? im not questioning the collabs but im interersted to hear the reasons these bands are included in this category. |

Well, i think that it would rather complicate good old system...
If so, why don't we split Progressive Electronic in Ambient Prog, Drone/Noise Prog, Kosmische Prog, ProgAge etc.?

WOW, I like the split, I have been looking into the different genres, and there are only two or three bands that I think are in the wrong place!!!!!!!!

It may not affect me, but I'm glad to see that Prog Metal fans will be able to better find music that they like. |

Ok, love it now here are some bands that you might want to look into their placement (not trying to be a jurk just want to see evrything in its correct place)
Ved Buens Ende
Wintersun
Gojira
These should probably be moved to Tech/Extreme

Thanks for clarifying that. There are a few bands that are just really hard to pin down to one genre.
Do you think Tool are tech/extreme or "classic" prog metal ala DT?
Opeth is another really difficult one, they aren't purely tech/extreme(don't let the growls mislead you),so we can't put them there.
The definitions might need a little tweaking, and so bands might get misplaced and after some talk, debate and feedback could get placed elsewhere.
Please be patient everyone...Rome wasn't built in a day.
