Hi

I was stuck in the musical doldrums for some time and drifted heavily into jazz to satisfy my ear. I came across this site and I must say it has made me whole again! I did not realize that there was so much prog out there.

I have discovered Porcupine Tree, IQ, and a wealth of others here. I like well recorded albums as well and have found some gems here.  will post a request for perhaps a "10 albums to have" ideas elsewhere. Hopefully the hardcore proggers can enlighten me!

mukster.

Thanks for the welcome.

I noticed a few threads in some of the other topics about must have prog albums. Depending on what type of jazz you like , I could make a few recommendations.

Cheers!

I've been wanting to get into Jazz, because I have heard some amazing songs.  The sad part is that I never got the names of the songs/bands I heard!  What would you suggest to someone who desires more complex Jazz (not the new Jazz using only keyboards) with loud drums and those excellent bass players?

Try Vital Tech Tones  (Scott Henderson/Victor Wooten/Steve Smith).

Also Last Exit - but beware, their music will chase half of the neighbourhood away.
