I am aware that the 09 season is no way near starting up but continuing to post in a "2008' thread felt outdated.  Plus, there is still plenty going on: Cutler troubles, combines, free agents, potentially tragic fishing accidents (still unclear as to what is happening there) and a rapidly approaching draft.

I also thought it would be fitting that a Pittsburgh Steelers fan open the 09 thread since last seasons was opened by a Giants fan.

T.O. is gone!  T.O. is gone!  Jerry Jones is owning up to making a mistake!  There's a snow cone stand in Hell this morning!  I'll be able to watch my Cowboys next fall without having to see T.O.'s ugly mug in a Dallas jersey!  Yes!

Seeing T.O. sign with the Bills yesterday brought to mind the old Kinks song "Who'll be the next in line..."  Good luck, Buffalo.  Get your popcorn ready!

I think Tony Romo will be more exposed this year as the most overrated player in the league.  I'm not saying he is bad, just that there is no way he lives up to the constant love rained down on him in the media.  The Cowboys aren't going anywhere till Jerry Jones stops playing puppet master and lets an actual head coach lead the team.

My thoughts on the Jay Cutler situation in Denver:
1. Stop whining Jay, ain't nobody in this league untradeable (ok, there may be 2 but they have multiple rings)
2. Matt Cassel better than Jay Cutler? Come on Broncos, Cutler he maybe sleepy looking and have the  but he also has a canon.
3. Jay Cutler looks just like the kid from Two and a Half Men:

Any Kansas State fans that watched Josh Freeman's career?  Tongue

Bucs apparently are the only team to "reach" in the 1st round today.. we've had terrible luck with 1st round QB draft picks..

After the Giants mediocre season/miracle run to their Super Bowl victory,
followed by their 2008 season where they were the best, (or at least top 2) team in the NFL then terrible loss to the Eagles...
my expectations are high.

I have not been used to expecting the Giants to be good...and I really hope they don't let me down

They seem solid J, they're young a team and I expect great things from them for many years to come..

Indeed. They're beastly defense should be more or less the same, plus we're getting Osi back. Assuming he's 100%.
The O-line is still intact which will keep the pounding run game going, and Eli will hopefully continue his consistency he showed last year.

Well I'm officially boycotting football until Brian Dawkins is back on the Eagles or until his EAGLES jersey is retired or until he gets inducted into the hall of fame as an EAGLE!!!!!!

I couldn't believe that.  It's hard to think of a defensive player in today's game that is as much of their team's identity as Dawkins was for Philadelphia.  Ray Lewis is probably the only guy who defines their team like Dawkins did.

Kornheiser is leaving MNF due to his fear of flying. Take guts to leave a sweet gig like that. MNF is entering it's 40th season this Sept. Seems like it was yesterday when Cosell was on it.

Unfortunately MNF hasn't been the icon it once was for some time, sad as that is to say.

It seems that Kornheiser suffered from the same malady as John Madden. A fear of flying. Too bad he couldn't find a way around it like Madden did. No matter. Jon Gruden will be taking his place and as a Raider fan,I am quite interested in seeing how he does. I have always had a soft spot for Ol' Chucky.

I am so psyched that Kornheiser is leaving.  He's the worst announcer I've ever heard in any sport, and his constant, pathetic attempts at humor often had me muting the games.  Nice to see somebody who may be interested in actually talking about the football being played and adding some head-coaching insight taking the booth.

I've heard that Kornheiser was fired, but announced that he was leaving. Come on, the guy was horrible! He openly admits to hardly watching any football. He was on MNF WAY too long.
