That's what I've been saying, they (thanks to Davis) have acquired a ton of great players.
Yet the team just does not play well, even in a weak division.
I don't know the exact reasoning.... is it Al not being able to delegate responsibility? Could be.
But like I said, often it is the coach (or Al in this case). The team needs to gel.

For the nth time, the Raiders have a lot of good players, (especially on defense) they need to play better, soon.

You guys already took Derrick Ward in real life! Angry
Smile

I'm sure the Giants acquisitions will be some good ol power backs as well, of course helped out by that O-Line and huge fullback we have.
And seriously, Jacobs is unstoppable. I worry about him getting so many carries (and beatings along with) but he can not be taken down by 1 guy, (sometimes not even 3!) He's also got decent speed....he's not human.

As for the Favre saga in today's game he went completed 1 for 4 which went for an astounding 4 yards.
Meanwhile Tavaris Jackson completed 12-15 for over 200 yards, and 2 TDs.
Sure, this is only a pre season game......but it's FAVRE! Therefor we must now analyze it to death

With Ward?
Yeah, he was a nice balanced back. Quick and good moves, but tough runner.
Bit injury prone though.

Best run I ever had was actually with Steven Jackson when I was playing as the Rams. 96 yards and  I did some messed up juking

I appreciate what you are saying but why this hasn't been working is pretty obvious. This team is very young and with the revolving door of coaches has no stability.  The biggest mistake Al mandewas bringing back Art Shell.  He gave Norv Turner two years and then junked Art after one Kiffin after 1.3. I know he trying to find the next Jon Gruden in Kiffin but sometimes your decisions don't work out.  I really like Tom Cable and I think he is the one Al has been looking for. I watched him coach linemen and run the offense at UCLA and he squeezed a 10-2 record out of a team that had no business winning that many. He may coach here a few years at least. Wink  You will see the team improve the longer he stays. I think this year will be better than last year by at least 3-4 wins.

I'm really looking forward to this guy the Giants drafted, Clint Sintim.
NEVER heard of him...but he's a LB out of Virginia and from everything I've gathered he's quite a pass rushing beast. People are all ready comparing him to Lawrence Taylor.

Now that's a bit crazy (seeing how he hasn't played a single game LOL) but if he does have that type of skill the Big Blue Wrecking Crew will be back in full force!!!

if he even has half of LTs skill watch out..  I can't even imagine comparing anyone to LT though..

Well, MIN's defense was fun to watch last night, even the 3rd string guys with their goal line stand LOL

I'll be busy watching my Bucs take on Jacksonville tonight, not too sure what the replay games are tonight, might watch them also, I do have two new release movies I need to watch also, dam music.. Never want to watch TV it seems.

Heh, first play of the Bucs game, Jack Del Rio, oh?  You are not playing the Tampa two?  Throws deep, 80 YD TD.  CryAngryShocked  All 16 games are blacked out in Tampa Bay for a reason come to find out ... LOL

So G-men lost to the bears. I love how the ESPN guys are saying "Jay plays better than Eli!"

Ah yes, the 13 snaps he took were much better than the 10 eli took LOL

The Jay hype train is about to leave the station.

I do hope the best for Lovie Smith however.

I could understand the hype at least. They have not a good QB since the 40's I think LOL

Source: 'Little support' for Favre

What two knowledgeable NFL people described earlier this week as an "issue" in the Minnesota Vikings locker room was described Wednesday by a third informed person as a "schism."

Vikings DE Jared Allen discusses Brett Favre's impact on the Minnesota locker room. He says Favre's preseason start was surprising, but was appreciated by the team.

The issue is quarterback Brett Favre, and the schism is the preference that certain Vikings players have for specific quarterbacks.

Sources with knowledge of the Vikings locker-room dynamics say some players believe Tarvaris Jackson gives the Vikings the best chance to win, while other players believe Sage Rosenfels gives the team the best chance to win -- which is one of the new twists to this storyline. In the words of one NFL source, Favre has "little support" in the locker room as Minnesota prepares for its Monday night preseason game against the Houston Texans.

Favre, who signed only last week, struggled in his one preseason appearance but could easily win backers with improved performance and victories. But as it now stands, one NFL source said these locker-room issues stem back to long before the team signed Favre, and it's possible they will not be going away any time soon unless Favre can completely silence them with his play.

Vikings coach Brad Childress was even asked Wednesday about the speculation.

"I've seen the same reports you've seen," Childress said. "Those are opinions. It's hard to shoot holes in an opinion. It's just that -- an opinion. I certainly don't see it."

Asked if he addressed with the players that friendships must become secondary to winning, Childress said: "I think all of them will cite that business is business. Whether they like it or not, that's the way it is. As I told Tarvaris, 'I don't expect you to like it.' He's a highly competitive guy, and he came back and played very well. That benefits him, that benefits us. There's no downside to that. I don't expect those guys to like it. But I expect them to deal with it and go forward. And by and large, that's exactly what's happened."

If Favre plays well, it's possible the issue could be silenced and the schism could evaporate. But it's also possible that if Favre struggles, the drama that accompanied his entrance will only increase, threatening to affect the Vikings' season and Childress' future.

Glad to see Cadillac Williams back. For the nth time...its only pre season..but he was one hell of a back who also had on hell of a problem with injuries. Hope he has not lost his edge, and if he stays healthy the Buccs might have quite a backfield. Ward and Graham are also great RB's.

Also would like to see Byron Leftwich have a good year, (or however much he plays) always liked him personally.

On that note, Michael Vick made his debut and completed 4 for 4.
That's a 100% completion rating! Vick for MVP!
He also ran once for a yard, and lined up at WR. Thus despite the Eagles claim that Vick "will be a QB" he will indeed be used in some wildcat/satellite role after all.

My heart goes out to Cadillac, certainly hope he'll have a full season..

I'm really conflicted with Leftwich, he seems so sloppy a player, he obviously has talent, but maybe uncoachable?  He's certainly not a technician (ala, Brady, Manning..) Certainly I feel we can win some games with the guy, but we'll be easily stopped.  We really don't have any game breaking WRs for teams to worry about, so we'll see a stacked line most of the season..  We still have some talent on this team I just hate to see them lose heart (Seen this in the old days, its not pretty)..

Having watched Byron at far, as a Jag, and here as our backup last year I can say this about him: He is a fairly solid pocket passer with little to no touch on his passes.  He'll throw rockets all day but when you have to hit a 5 yard slant or a soft screen pass you don't really want rockets.

Time always wins.

Yeah, he seemed to have everything it took to make it in the NFL.
Maybe he did have all the physical tools but not the mental ones.
I did hear some rumblings of him not "getting" the game.

Not that it matters, the Buccs drafted another big ol QB...so Leftwich doesn't have much time anyway.
