The Vikings have been a horror to watch of late, Pat was right that this team is not as good as advertised.  Although losing their key linebacker didn't help.  Peterson can't hang onto the football and the secondary is getting smoked.

What is false though is the notion some folks have (not here) that Brett has been responsible.  That guy has been playing his ass off, working harder than anyone, and putting up the best numbers of his career.  Watching him every week I can tell you, whatever you might think of the guy personally, he does care.  He is playing with heart and determination, and I've gained respect for his attitude, which I wish was rubbing off on some of the others a bit more.

I only wish the rest of the team wasn't caving on him, which they are.  The Vikings may not get to the Superbowl, but depending on the day and which Vikings team shows up, they are capable of beating anyone, so write them off at your peril.  I'd love to see the O-line get back and see them come out of this slump at the right time to knock off a team or two.  THAT would make my year.  I'm not expecting the SB, but getting to the conference title game would be awesome.

Is there any chance the Cowboys could win this weekend?Wink

I never doubted Favre's work ethic....if he really DIDNT care about playing he would just stay retired...
I just always was miffed at how much people love the guy. No doubt he's great, and do some crazy things..but he is and has ALWAYS been as good as the team around him.

So when the '08 fiasco happened I was just mad that most put Favre as above the team. When the Pack was bad so was he, and when they improved (07) he was great. Same now...the team is having some issues, and thus so is he. Its a team sport, I just want people to stop thinking Favre is god.

Anyway...Vikings were a bit over rated, but losing EJ hurts, and makes the weaknesses worse.
I am officially rooting for the Saints and Bengals, but we shall see.
I am confident the Cowboys will blow it again, as wil lthe colts.

He was always the flawed qb that we're seeing now. I think things are just exacerbated by the lack of a receiving core and solid run game.

I will agree with you and manofmystery....he is DEFF overrated and always have been. But to do THIS bad??
I'm sure the O-line is partially to blame. Not just their blocking for him but the lack of run game as well. Unless Matt Forte just decided to suck....

Although manofmystery...Denver got the BETTER of the deal....but Orton is no winner. They need a real QB in Denver.

Orton is a very limited QB but with the two 1st round picks Denver has in the 2010 draft they will likely be able to get Sam Bradford (if he plummets in value coming off this injury shortened season).   I don't know that much about Bradford really, as I'm not a college football fan, but he must have more going for him physically than Orton.

Well, I'll take Orton for a year for another 1st rounder deff. But yeah, they need a real QB. THEN they may be a pretty scary team.

Bradford is good. He played in a very pass happy offense so inflated numbers...and I dont know if its a simple or complex offense, but he seems to have the right tools. Of course Rams need a QB....
There's always McCoy, Tebow (Dead though I think hell struggle) or Daryl Clark!!!! lol nah j/k he wont get drafted Cry

I don't know watch much college football, but from what I've seen Tebow has a slow release. I think that will catch up to him in the NFL.

Well that could be tweaked, what I see as a problem is that he plays in that shotgun, spread option offense.
Look at how Vince Young took to the NFL at first. It'll take tebow a few years to develop. Also he cant even run the option well....he never pitches it, just runs it every time. LOL
Thats why hes got all those rushing TD's idk if Florida has any runningbacks, they just use him at the goal line.

Tebow is destined to be a backup TE in the NFL
I'd say he could be a FB but why would a team hired a career QB to be a fullback when there are good ones out of work now that less teams use them (wish Tomlin would realize the Steelers needs one).

That would require Tomlin to be a good coach.

And with regards to his slow release being correctable. Yes it is, but not easily so. I don't expect a hot career out of him. Though maybe he could be a starting TE somewhere Smile

Yeah, Ive heard alot of talk about him being a TE, (and now from you two).
I suppose...I imagined him as more of a runningback.

And they say the NFL is changing.....maybe the spread option is finally coming!!
Nah....at least I hope not. But thats what it would take. My hatred of Tebow aside...he really is a very over rated QB and will bust in the NFL. OR take 3 or 4 years to develop.

Well, the Steelers won, despite more poor coaching and secondary play, but they don't really have a shot at this point.  Would dearly love to see Oakland beat their 1 player opponent at least and keep the Baltimore Ray Rices from weasling their way in the post season.

Go Cowboys!!   I think that means the Vikes get a bye and the 2nd seed.  (meaning our playoff exit will be delayed at least one week)LOL

Missed the Giants game. Apparently that was not a bad thing. From what I've heard and checked I might have actually had a better pulling a 10 hour shift at my job...

Looks like the Jets are having another give away game (not as blatant as Indy but still)
Saints however DID completely give up by not even playing Brees
Dallas actually won a season finale!?
CJ did indeed manage to reach the 2000 yard mark

Playoff Predictions for Week 1:
AFC:
- Jets over Bengals in a matchup of the two of the three worst teams in this years playoffs
- Patriots over Ravens in another sub par matchup the Pats one-dimensional passing offense overcomes the Ravens one-player offense
NFC:
- Cowboys over Eagles in what should be a fairly tight game.  Frankly, I don't trust either of these teams or coaches in the playoffs, but somebody has to win.
- Cardinals over Packers in what should be the most entertaining game of week 1.  The Cardinals not only have the experience advantage but having watched the Packers defense get shredded a few weeks ago by my Steelers I don't have a lot of trust in that unit to show up for them in a big game.  Should be a shoot out.

Playoff Predictions for Week 1:
AFC:
- Bengals over Jets: This is a tough one. I didn't expect the Jets to run the show like they did (who could have predicted that dominance). I just don't see the Bengals very good run defense breaking down again. They have some solid corners and making Sanchez throw the ball I think they can get a win out of this.

- "Patriots over Ravens in another sub par matchup the Pats one-dimensional passing offense overcomes the Ravens one-player offense"
Manofmystery said it and I agree.

NFC:
- Eagles over Cowboys: Partly because I can't pick the Cowboys here and partly because the defense we saw in the second half from the Eagles will be the way they play the entire game in the second round and the offense is obviously much better than what showed up. Everyone had a collective down day really.

- Packers over Cardinals.

Edit: We should keep score with the predictions for bragging rights.

I'm thinking you are using your emotions over your brains. Packers over Cardinals..probably yes
Pats over Ravens...maybe, but with Welker out, I'm doubting it.
Eagles over Cowboys at the Cowboys...REALLY?!Confused
Bengals over Jets...NO friggin Way!! The Bengals got like 82 yards in total offense against the Jets yesterday.

Winners:

Jets
Patriots
Cowboys
Cardinals

I'm not as dialed in on the whole league as you guys are, but I'll give it a shot for fun!

There's no freakin' way the Packers are beating the Cardinals though.  We (Vikings) gobbled the Packers twice and will do so again if we get them.  The Cards on the other hand just kicked our ass and scare the hell out of me.

Sad thing is, had Peterson not dropped that football, the Vikings would be the number one seed and have home field throughout.  And they're 8-0 at home.  But it wasn't to beCry
