That's really true. Whenever I review an album, and write down everything i like and dislike about it, i feel much more educated about the music.

When I started reviewing (elsewhere than here), I used to set up the reviews in a certain manner.

1. Introduction - a bit about the band. When they formed, where they are from; stuff like that. No need for many details in here, as the artists have a bio, but an introduction of sorts is usually a good idea.

2. A brief description of influences, stated versus the ones you are able to catch perhaps; a few comments on evolvements and changes from previous releases if applicable.

3. More full description of the music on the release you're reviewing. Stylistic traits, how likeable the songs are, major positives and negatives described.

4. Conclusion, perhaps with some mentions of possible target audiences for the album in particular and the artist in general.

It was a useful plan to follow when I started out - and might work for others as well.

Indeed - it is a nice way to structure it, as a basic foundation. But when hitting the flow when writing, variations will eventually be produced. As with most such structures it is meant as a tool to help focus the mind rather than a straitjacket that has to be followed to the letter :-)

Lazy days........... I have been listening to around one hundred prog rock albums since I last wrote a review for PA. Mostly just getting an impression of each album without going into great details. I guess I have around three hundred reviews I need to do now. But I will catch up before the end of the year.........

The structure Windhawk use is highly recommended. I will try to stick to that myself......... help me God !
