Joy Division have goth influences in their music? I'd say it the other way around - they were the ones who influenced the early goth bands.

And I only suggested Agalloch because the thread creator was looking for "dark beauty" music, not because I think they are a gothic band, but that was such a long time ago I am surprised I can even recall what was in my head at the time.

Shoegazing Revisited

The unfounded, clealry obstuse addition of Led

Zeppelin to Prog Archives has prompted me to

resurrect this thread in an effort to spearhead the

inclusion of a few influential shoegazer bands, most

notably (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Ride,

maybe Catherine Wheel)

My Thoughts:

I am pleased with the addition of Slint to ProgArchives.

However, they are closer to math rock than shoegazer music.

Its a step in the right direction.

Surely, these bands drew up the blueprint for

present-day post rock.  On Takk..., you can hear

 clear MBV influences.

On Mogwai's Happy Songs from Happy People

you can identify Slowdive influences.

Thus, if prog related is the extent to whcih shoegazer bands can appear on PA, so be it.

Thoughts?

Is this an irrational suggestion?

If MBV, Ride, Slowdive make it into Prog Archives, Catherine Wheel would most certainly have to be added as well. I could list ad infinitum the reasons why CW belong.
