I have a few friends that listen to prog, but most of them aren't patient enogh for it, or prefer either commercial music or heavy metal. So I feel kinda lonely sometimes Luckily, there's always the internet for meeting people with similar interests!

No, mostly. I have a couple friends looking for interesting music proposals (not only prog rock, but still dedicated music), the rest are divided between those how perceive music as something to dance, and those who also think that. My girlfriend is very into world music, wich is a huge relief...

Personnally, near all my friends listen prog... Each person are specialist oh this domain
For example, i have a friend who know a lot of stuff about all genre of metals. An other listen more post rock and electronic music. Personnally i'm more in the symphonic/neo prog but i like to discovery new genres and specially new groups. It's the best way to knwo more about music, specially about prog. Each week i discovery new bands by internet or by my friends. This site an another tool to discovery progressive music.

I voted 'Yes', because although most of my friends don't listen to prog, most of my friends who are more into music listen to prog, like my bandmates.
In my band (I'm the bass player), the guitarist, the keyboardist and the drummer they all listen and worship Dream Theater, while I'm more into Camel and until recently starting to explore the whole world of prog this site displays and spreading the prog-gospel for my bandmates. For example, I recently introduced Ayreon to the drummer (using the LaBrie link) and he loved it right away, and then he suggested Ayreon to the guitar player, who also loved it and last Monday, the guitarist lent the keyobardist his recently purchased Ayreon copy.
What about the singer in my band? Well... he just listens to radio pop...

I'm in quite a proggy circle of friends. Or rather, I'm in a circle of friends who appreciate plenty of good music including prog.

None of the people I am remotely keeping contact with(I don't have a close friend, which is kind of logical in my situation)has gone far from the top chart garbage or current trends.

Sometimes. - One likes Jethro Tull for the excessive flute - One randomly checked out Remedy Lane after I raved about it, now is going to check out Üdü Wüdü after I raved about it - One has Pink Floyd, Opeth, Tool and Genesis as four of their top artists on last.fm (of course, he has Dr. Dre and Eminem in the top twenty as well) - One likes Pink Floyd, Tool and Dream Theater

I have prog friends but only because I showed them the magic prog can
bring. The good part is that almost all of the people I show prog to
they tend to like it.

I voted for "other" because most of my friends (I'm in high school, here) are blissfully unaware to the realm of prog rock music. I do know kids who listen to Tool, Dream Theater, and the like...mostly the more popular prog-metal out there, though not knowing that it's genre is in fact 'prog.' My girlfriend does enjoy Yes, Coheed and Cambria, and Radiohead. But on the whole, most of my friends haven't even discovered prog unless I have broadened their horizons (which I've done in a few cases ).
Edit: I know no one who listens to it as avidly as me, especially when non prog-metal is concerned.

No of course....none of them even listen to rock. If you lived in Miami, Florida, you would understand. The only thing my friends listen to is rap, salsa, and reggaton (dont ask). This does not really bother me much becouse I used to be the same anyway before I stumbled upon King Crimson, Anglaguard, Gentle Giant, etc....Let me tell you, anyone who listens to prog let alone rock here in Miami is a rarity.
