Björn J:Son Lindh, Kebnekaise, Älgarnas Trädgård, Ramlösa Kvällar, Samla Mammas Manna and Ragnarok are all faves of mine, but I never see them mentioned over the forum, maybe except for SMM.
Well let me add some more wonderful Swedish acts (and albums) to the mix:

Archimedes Badkar - ll
Kraldjursanstalten - Voodoo Boogie
Fläsket Brinner - Live Stockholm
Nya Ljudbolaget - s/t
Myrbein - Myrornas Krig
Anna Själv Tredie - Tussilago Fanfara
Dungen - 4
Taste Of Blues - Schizophrenia
Grovjobb - Vättarnas Fest
Kornet - Fritt Fall
Kultivator - Barndomens Stigar
Arbete & Fritid - s/t
Barrett Elmore - Woodlands
My Brother The Wind - I Wash My Soul In The Stream Of Infinity
Ensemble Nimbus - Garmonbozia
Fire! Orchestra - Enter
Goat - World Music
Ragnar Grippe - Sand
Hansson & Karlsson - Rex
In the Labyrinth - Dryad
International Harvester - Sov Gott Rose-Marie
Life - s/t
Eric Malmberg - Verklighet & Beat
Necromonkey - A Glimpse Of Possible Endings
Joakim Skogsberg - Jola Rota

You really know Swedish progg Bamsen, I mean Archimedes Badkar, hahaha. I thought I was the only one remembering them. Do you also know Berits Halsband?

Nahh don't worry - I love Archimedes Badkar!! I've got the debut, ll and Tre. I love how different each album sounds going from the Indo raga almost Krautrocking second album to the Ethnic jazz rock of Tre.

And yes, I am familiar with Berits Halsband as well. I bought a reissued vinyl copy last summer.

I haven't listened to Archimedes Badkar in ages but I remember liking them, they sounded so exotic. Thanks for reminding me, I'm now off to youtube. Smile

Sweden has cultivated quite a few psychedelic bands lately. Some of em have been mentioned earlier in this thread, but definitely not all.
Here are some tasty bits for ya complete with knækbrød and poor Pripps beer:

Hooffoot:

Our Solar System:

Les Big Byrd:

Lejonsläktet:

How about that time the Swedish Chef collaborated with Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem on their classic prog epic, Tales From Topographic Kitchens and other Cutlery?

I don't think Isildur's Bane was mentioned yet.  Certainly a band that went through a lot of development from symph to chamber prog to some quite unclassifiable stuff, including a collaboration with a group of free improvisers.  I think their 1992 album Voyage: A Trip to Elsewhere is a bit of a masterpiece.

On the topic of Archimedes Badkar, ex-member Per Tjernberg has released some interesting music in recent years.  I'd recommend checking out his album Music is my Salvation, really not prog but lovely, hard-to-categorise music that won't scare your granny but is actually full of substance and detail.

Surprised no-one's mentioned Kaipa yet.  They've taken a while to grow on me, but after a number of years I have suddenly discovered a real appreciation for them.  I only have 2 albums so far, but hoping to get some more soon.

I like those newer Swedish prog groups, but the older ones really move me more, especially Samla Mammas Manna, Ragnarök, Fläsker Brinner, Bo Hansson. And from the more recent groups, my favorite is Klotet, which is much more based on Scandinavian jazz & folk tingled '70s prog rock than Anglagard, Beardfish etc.

No one has mentioned Meshuggah yet ?
Up there with Trettioariga Kriget, Anglagard, Anekdoten and Landberk.
But there's so many more great bands from Sweden.
Norway is giving us Proggers some real treats as well.
