![]() In 1935, fishermen caught a tiger shark and put it on display in an aquarium in Sydney. Within a week, it became ill and vomited in front of a small crowd, leaving the left hand and forearm of a man bearing a distinctive tattoo floating in the pool. Fingerprints of the hand identified the arm as that of former boxer and petty criminal James "Jim" Smith, who had been missing since 7 April 1935. Examination revealed that the limb had been severed with a knife, which resulted in a murder investigation. Early inquiries implicated a Sydney businessman named Reginald William Lloyd Holmes. Holmes was a fraudster and smuggler who also managed a successful family boat-building business. Holmes had employed Smith several times to work insurance scams. The pair then soon began engaging in criminal activity with Patrick Francis Brady, an ex-serviceman and convicted forger. Smith was last seen drinking and playing cards with Patrick Francis Brady at the Cecil Hotel in the southern Sydney suburb of Cronulla on 7 April 1935 after telling his wife he was going fishing. Brady had rented a small cottage in Taloombi Street, Cronulla at the time Smith became missing. Police alleged that Smith was murdered at this cottage. Port Hacking and Gunnamatta Bay were searched by the Navy and the Air Force, but the rest of Smith's body was never found. Brady was arrested on 16 May and charged with the murder of Smith. Initially, Holmes denied any association with Brady but four days later, on 20 May 1935, the businessman went into his boatshed and attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head with a .32 calibre pistol. However, the bullet instead flattened against the bone of his forehead and he was merely stunned. Holmes eventually cooperated with the police stating that Brady had killed Smith, dismembered his body and stowed it into a trunk that he had then thrown into Gunnamatta Bay. Scientists now believe that the skulls of ancient elephants inspired the creation of the Cyclops giants. During the end of the last ice age, many land bridges that once connected different lands and countries were submerged in water due to a rising sea level. Before this occurred, mammoths and elephants would roam the areas of the Mediterranean.
When the sea level rose, elephants around Greece began to evolve, and they became smaller as the levels of food depleted. This change in their physiological structure caused the elephants to become smaller.
As the Greeks and Romans began to inhabit different areas around the Mediterranean, they began to discover skulls with large holes in their foreheads. They started to believe that these skulls belonged to one-eyed humanoid giants, whom they called Cyclops. However, the hole was not an eye socket but supported muscles used in the elephant's trunk.

Triboulet was a jester for Louis XII, the King of France from 1498 to 1515. He is perhaps most famous for slapping the king on the butt. This act greatly angered the king, and he threatened to have Triboulet executed. After taking a moment to calm down, the king decided to spare Triboulet's life if he could think of an apology that was more offensive than what he had just done to the king.
Triboulet went on to say, "I'm so sorry, your majesty, that I didn't recognize you! I mistook you for the Queen!" While Triboulet's response was clever and indeed more offensive, it broke an order that prohibited anyone from making fun of the queen. The king decided to proceed with the execution but allowed Triboulet to choose how he would die. With his life on the line, Triboulet replied, "Good sire, for Saint Nitouche's and Saint Pansard's sake, patrons of insanity, I choose to die from old age."
The speechless king could do nothing but laugh. He canceled the execution and decided to banish Triboulet.

Hi,
The stories about King and Fools ... are likely a lot more than we think, and it was thought at one time that the Fool's main job was to keep an eye on the Queen and other members of the court, with the thought that no one would suspect someone that behaved like an idiot, and obviously wasn't. I kinda wonder if the term "Fool" actually came out of this kind of situation in the first place, although there seems to be an occult/hidden history behind the idea of a "Fool" or "Court Jester", who many thought was funny, but in the end, was likely to be deadly! Michel de Ghelderode wrote a play called "Escurial" about the king and his fool ... who meets an unfortunate end, as the King knows that he is canoodling with the Queen, and the story, while meant to be a "FARCE", is more than likely not really a farce but based on a lot of stories about the courts in Spain, as there would also be many others around other courts. European lore is full of many of these, and the only ones that have been able to "hide" a lot of it, were the English ... whose stories, for some reason, still do not seem to surface, and we know that many of the English Kings were not saints whatsoever. I directed this play at UCSB (Directing Student) with outstanding reviews and reports on it, and it also featured music and fun play during the time folks were coming in to the theater, which apparently (I found out later) was something that Michel de Ghelderode enjoyed doing to give the idea that the play never started, or ended. Music used? Le Cemetiere des Arlequins ... by ANGE and then a piece from Colin Townes album "Full Circle" for the ending of the play!

Here's a weird one: on Sunday, May 19, 1968, unbeknownst to one another, Frank Zappa helped bag groceries for (at the time) Cream guitarist Eric Clapton at the Canyon Country Store in Laurel Canyon, California. And the rest, as they say, is history!
