I'll begin with two very weird things. One of them is "cool" for anybody, I guess. The other "Simpsonsesque" one might be bewildering for those who take politics too seriously, or are like "Holy f**k, we're living in a simulation!" type of people. For the latter, I'd say "predicting the future" and "shaping the future" is quite a complex issue to discuss. This is just beyond me... But come on guys & gals, there are many mysteries in life. Even Nostradamus doesn't seem like that impressive, for some people into such "dark" stuff...

Source for both: https://twitter.com/weird_hist

P.S. I hope that the stuff they share are not "fake" at all. It is very hard to fully trust in virtually anything, nowadays...

In 1958, the Western TV series 'Trackdown' featured a con man named Trump who promised to build a wall in order to prevent the end of the world. Ez9-J6z-KXMAAUUt2x

My favourite fun story is more of a curius fun fact, in that the 60s artist Long John Baldry is the first voice actor/model for the animated TV show version of Sonic the Headghogs supervillian, Dr Eggman. I just love that coincidence, were my childhoid and grown-up hood meets.

I like Rod Stewart.

But if "the young Turks" are implied to try to "change" the point of view of the cute and naive couple; here's my move...

I bought this cassette (Face the Heat) about when it was out. Whenever I have to act with my national pride, it serves as a catalyser, or like a "passive skill" (as in Diablo II).

The grasshopper story can't be true. Insects of this size could only grow during the Carboniferous because there was much more oxygen in the air during that time. The trachea breathing system of insects is inferior to the breathing system of vertebrates and only allows them to grow to a certain size.

Just for comparison:

Percentage of oxygen in the air today: 21%.

Percentage of oxygen in the air in the Carboniferous: 35% (it actually rose from 20% to 35% during that geological period).

My take on the two weird facts (?) that I put here is:

The grasshopper thing is likely fake. But I'm a little more convinced that it can be true, compared to Mike's take.

About the Trump thing... unless someone that I trust says that s/he had watched that episode of the series before we encountered unce Donald as a president, I'll not be 100% sure that it is true.

There is no "likely" about the grasshopper. It is a biological impossibility.

You or Jeanine (it is really a confusing thing, even if I sense that your personalities are very different, but "statements" are quite alike) claimed that a guy with 5 octaves of voice is "the best" in this regard. Sorry, but even I can use 5 octaves of voice. I mentioned Dimash Kudaibergen, who has almost 8 octaves of voice. No reply from you, as usual. Because you're always right (!)

About the "eight octave voice":

Quote from Wikipedia: Kudaibergen is well-recognized for his extremely wide and developed vocal range. His sung range expands 5 octaves and 10 semitones, from E2 to C6 to F#6 and, finally, D8.

I will admit that this is more than 5 octaves, but nothing like 8 octaves.

Ah... Ah... Ah...............................................................

This would last forever...

According to a vast majority of academical vocal trainers, any head voice or falsetto is not within the range. So even 4 octaves seems miraculous.

Dimash's final note is a G8. The clueless stupids say it is D8 everywhere. This is nothing but the comedy in the world.

Dimash's voice is very close to 8 octaves. Or "was". He could even reach 10 octaves. It is not impossible.

Take care...

Posted By: Shadowyzard
Date Posted: May 21 2021 at 05:21
^ I wonder if the people who say Dimash's highest note is a D8 are sort of deaf (like colorblinds), or if there's another reason for this misinformation. Or perhaps there's a problem in my ears? Though all academically trained people praise my musical ear immensely...

Posted By: BaldFriede

Even G8 would make it 6 octaves only. But it could easily be checked. Let him sing to every key on the piano (which spans eight octaves).

Nope. I checked all his notes via a piano simulation. his G8 is out of the piano range. I had to check it "differently". His voice is, as far as I remember, 2 full notes below 8 octaves. I believe he must have surpassed it by now.

As already said, even G8 makes it 6 octaves only.

As to ten octaves being possible: A flat no. You would have to sing outside of human hearing range for that. Only bats could hear you. You actually remind me of a guy that once tried to tell me a tale about something being -5000° Celsius cold until I politely pointed out that it can't get any colder than -273.15°C.

There are electronic devices to measure octaves. There are already people with 8 or 9 octaves. PROVEN. But singing beautifully with more than 7 octaves is probably a unique phenomenon.

So, you still claim that you admit some things... Ludicrous.

Nope. I also haven't read any "sorcery books" in my life. It might seem ironic. LOL

I Google-searched that "exhibit", there appeared big statues on my screen. The fish image I shared is likely a small pendant. I really wasn't aware that such micro-craft could be done so masterfully around those years. It could be my ignorance though.

By the bye, I had a thought about this long long ago, but didn't state it earlier. Lest the bitter discussions "repeat". I kindly request not to discuss it with me. I have a fixed opinion about its probability, and unless you're a genius or you can falsify me with facts, it will not change. Scientific "facts" are always debatable. I mean like a proving that this image is fake.

My thought is/was, the formulae of such a thing might have been hidden or might not have been shared with the scientists. The reason for this could be to prevent some real danger. A praying mantis of this size could easily kill humans. Even grasshoppers can do that, if somehow they could have the same movement abilities with their tiny/normal kind.

I really am a man of science in principle, but the world is not as it is shown to us.

I still think that this is likely fake, but could be real still.

It is most definitely fake because of two anatomical features of insects: Trachea and exoskeleton.

During the period of World War II, there was a secret bomber-making factory south of  https://www.themadronagroup.com/puget-sound-communities/seattle-real-estate/" rel="nofollow - Seattle, Washington . To hide the factory, Boeing camouflaged it by entirely covering it with a fake neighborhood created by a Hollywood set designer!

The fake neighborhood included fake houses, trees, and artificial sidewalks. The intention was to hide the presence of an airplane production facility down below from other potential bombers.

First of all: You are wrong about me not questioning anything. But there are things that are not worth questioning. There is no need to question that the earth is a globe, and there is no need to question that this thing in the photo can't be a real grasshopper, at least not if one knows a bit about entomology.

I meant, you don't question pre-established scientific "facts". Do I have to make you aware that the real scientists do that? At least the progressive ones? If you had been living in the past, you would have taken its scientific "facts" as granted. Ah, you also believe in God. Here's a quote for you. Your "belief" will be like this in the following centuries or millennia: "The altar cloth of one aeon is the doormat of the next." — Mark Twain

You don't have to make me aware of that. But they only do so when there is a need for it. For example: The result of the Michelson-Morley experiment called for new explanations for the addition of velocities, which led to Einstein's special theory of relativity.

And that the trachea breathing system is way inferior to lungs or gills is nothing that has to be checked anymore.

^ Nice! You won again!

Off-topically, I have a recommendation for you and Jeanine. As your self-righteous grandiose ego(s) probably hasn't/haven't noticed it yet. You have to be made "aware".

Read what Beethoven said about Handel and about your ultimate and objectively best Bach. Your partner shared what he said about Bach as a support to Bach's ultimate superiority. The rest is up to you. I'm bored with this stuff. The more I state that I don't want to discuss, the more argumentative you are.

So let me get this straight...you start a thread with an obvious conspiratorial fakery and now you state "I'm bored with this stuff." and "I don't want to discuss".
Friede is right-on in presenting her arguments.

Four pages about fake grasshoppers. Impressive.

Why not leave the giant grasshopper and focus on the title of this topic, which clearly says «facts»?

To stay in the world of tiny, some female dragonflies fake death to avoid male dragonflies looking to get laid. The female ones drop down to earth if they are not interested.

Please read the previous pages. The reason why I gave this title was explained there, by me. But it failed miserably. I thought we could have some fun... Anyway, such threads by me were already over. No new ones will come. And it feels good. Cool

A strategy some human females have reversed - fainting to get the attention of a man.

^ The best acting I saw was of a snake species. It acts unimaginably. First it throes (a long scene), when its predator was observing its fake suffering, it fakes death. Strained body, dull eyes, a lolled out tongue. Even lets out a corpse smell.

There's an extremely tragic event regarding some American anarchists, and a following "leftist" manipulation of it as if those anarchists made a "leftist manifesto". They literally added some leftist propaganda to the original text, and made it look like those anarchist martyrs were leftists.  I'm not sure if that's a fact though. I wasn't alive then. But I hear that the leftists still are deceiving people about it cunningly. I'll not share, or even Google it.

There was also a statement of Prince (singer) about the illegal MP3's. He was fully supporting it. But when I searched it on Google a couple of years ago, there was no info about that. Guess why? LOL

Miguel Cervantes died Apr 22nd 1616 and William Shakespeare died Apr 23rd 1616, but they did not die on consecutive days because Spain already followed the Gregorian calendar and England still followed the Julian calendar

Nice one, Jeanine. Thumbs Up

I realised the one below myself. I'm not sure if it is being talked on the internet. I'm almost certain that it was noticed by many people before though.

Lord of The Flies and The Lord of the Rings were released in the same year (1954). The first's author is William Golding, and in the latter, the thing that must be destroyed is a gold ring.

Interesting. In elementary school in the 70's we were always told they were made of wood. Someone in class would invariably add a termite story.

I guess nobody questioned it because as George Washington facts go, it played little importance in the grand scheme of things.

The cherry tree, however....

varigoogible™
adjective

the condition of being identified as a fact through the use of a Google search, which may or may not verify it as a profound fact due to the variability of Google sources.

I invented it. You may use it with an authorized license agreement obtainable for a nominal fee.

The Man Buried In A Pringles Can

In 1966, Fredric Baur developed the ingenious idea for Procter & Gamble to uniformly stack chips inside a can instead of tossing them in a bag. Baur was so proud of his invention that he wanted to take it to the grave—literally.
He communicated his burial wishes to his family, and when he died at age 89, his children stopped at Walgreens on the way to the funeral home to buy his  http://content.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1811730,00.html" rel="nofollow - burial Pringles can . They did have one decision to make, though. "My siblings and I briefly debated what flavor to use," Baur's eldest son, Larry, told Time. "But I said, 'Look, we need to use the original.'" Fredric Baur, an American classic.

Some say that money can't buy happiness. Some oppose (sort of) that, saying that they would rather cry in their Ferraris. A thinker once said that money can buy "time" that can be used for the things that one likes, instead of working reluctantly. (This is a plausible argument which can refute the famous saying I mentioned at the beginning of the paragraph.)

Can nobility prevent boredom? Oh, it doesn't seem so. Even Prince Charles' "full title" is boring. Hahahah.

His full title is: His Royal Highness, Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Earl of Chester, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, Prince and Great Intendant of Scotland , Knight Royal Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Extra Knight of the Oldest and Most Noble Order of the Wild Thistle, Grand Master and Main Knight of the Great Cross of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Member of the Order of Merit, Knight of Order of Australia, Fellow of the Queen's Order of Service, Member of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Private Council, Her Majesty's Field Helper.

From what I recall there was a grab-handle on the underside of the keyboard piece and the exterior was a tough plastic shell. So when you closed it up it basically became a small, heavy suitcase. I would have been about twelve when it came out but I remember it made a splash in all the glossy computer mags at the time, which I was reading avidly.
