If children tried on several pairs of shoes per visit it was posited that they could be exposed to as much as 0.1 Gy to 1.16 Gy. In fact, experiments indicated that radiation could exceed 1 microGy per hour as far as 10 feet away from the machine. Even in 1950, researchers reported the maximum tolerated dose of radiation exposure was only 0.003 Gy per week. Well, this is not a "weird historical fact" per se, but it is kinda strange how such huge situations can alter in such (relatively) short periods.
Between the early and the late 17th century, the prospects for Britons in the Ottoman Maghreb changed. Beginning with the landmark treaties negotiated in 1662, British merchants established networks and trade links, built cultural and linguistic knowledge, and shared that knowledge with colleagues, superiors and the general public at home.
