I asked this question in a forum post before. I would like to put it into poll format.

ALL (althogh Gorjira's From Mars To Sirius would probably be my favorite album from this lot)
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

I have to go for Leprous, although I haven't heard of many of these, let alone heard any of their music!  Will try some out....

From the list - Mastodon. They usually share the top spot with Dream Theater for me... And this brings me to the question: Where is Dream Theater???

None of those listed are even close to being my favourite PM band, but from that list I voted Leprous. But it could just as easily have been half a dozen or more others listed, as they are all much of a muchness in how much I like them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe the OP doesn't consider them to be "modern prog metal" because they pretty much invented it....

They're definitely one of my favourite prog metal acts, just behind Ayreon and possibly slightly ahead of Devin Townsend, although Devy's more recent output is far better than DT's....

To clarify, I am using the term "modern" to disqualify any legacy legendary acts like Opeth, Dream Theater, Symphony X, etc. I know that's not a scientific or exact cut off but I am trying to isolate the new-ish acts as best I can.

If Cellar Darling are classified as prog metal (which they should be IMHO) then they would be top of my list of modern prog metal artists.  They're first two albums are fantastic!

Lots of good bands here but I'll go with Gojira as they have no votes.

Ayreon, followed closely by Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. I don't know any of the bands in the poll, so no surprise there again. Embarrassed

You still need to vote my friend, as I'd already voted for them but they're still on just the one....

I do that all the time. I highlight the choice I want, and forget to click cast vote. I think it’s because on FB, your vote registers immediately. That’s my excuse anyway.

I might go for something different, just to give some other band some support.

[rolls die] Karnivool, it is, then! [/rolls die]

Elder, they have gathered the seeds of Mastodons Crack the Skye and expanded an entire universe from it with soundscapes and tones. Tesseract, Gojira, Mastodon, Alcest, OM, Between the Burried and Me creates also magical music.
