For your reference:

Anyways, most of you haters basically have limited your criticism to them sounding like Led Zeppelin. While that's obviously true, the new album stands out for its strong melodies and thoughtful arrangements. This isn't a record that just strings together riffs with someone belting over them. The songs develop, they have layers, the melodies have lots of movement with troughs AND, obviously, peaks.

But hey, it sounds like Led Zeppelin and you boomers are in no mood for getting your blood pressure going with a fresh take on the sound.

Also, what's the issue with starting a conversation with some banter? We can't have fun here?

All this thread is doing is making me want to listen to some Vengaboys

...and watch the Monty Python bit ‘I’m here for the argument’.
In all seriousness, I think I’m going to check out Greta later on. She sounds like a really feisty woman.

Sounding like Zeppelin had nothing to do with having a crummy record. That's really besides the point.

While we're on the subject of Led Zeppelin sound-alikes, how about some Dread Zeppelin. Smile

Er,,,then what is the point?    Wink
Personally I like several of their 'singles' they have released in the last 3 years...haven't listened to all of the albums or the  newest one ...just one track on you tube. Do they sound like Zep...sure they do ,but as already mentioned other bands do also and we all can find bands that sound like the Beatles, Stones, or a combo of famous bands...Aerosmith anyone? There are only so many 'styles' in basic rock.
An interesting video... I hope they progress into their own 'sound'.

I like a lot of artists that sound like Zep. Whitesnake, etc. Even one Billy Squire song! So, it must be more to it than GVF sounding like Zep, for me at least.

Clap Fantastic! Don't know why they didn't do the soundtrack for Bubba Hotep.

Made me think of and listen to this Gary Moore & Ozzy number from 1989.

Led Clones

So I had a quick listen to the newest album and I gotta say I genuinely don’t get the vitriol against these guys. I mean sure they’re channelling some of that good old 70s rock vibes from a fair few bands, Zep included....but rip off/plagiarising they’re certainly not. Personally I think Wobbler sounds more like Yes than Fleta sounds like Led Zeppelin...and I dig both bands (at least by the quick cursory listen I just had).
YMMV of course

Try Hands of Time (1991)
it's my favorite from them.

I'm listening to the album right now... track 3 "Broken Bells" is playing. Average stuff, not good nor bad.

But I'm surprised to be the first mentioning it: the sound compression is AWFUL! It's barely listenable to me! Please stop this loudness war! Angry

You're on the wrong site. Please go to the boring audiophile Steve Hoffman Music Forum.  Wink
