you think the OP does not who Led Zeppelin is and thinks GFV is an original exciting band? Now that would be funny. LOL

If he did know who Zep was than his post would be sad, not funny. But I doubt it. I'm going by the listening habits of my grand kids. They heard of Zep but not their music. Same for Yes, Tull, etc.

Led Zeppelin are still huge and the younger generation do discover their music, at least the famous songs.

They smell of money being put behind them to promote them heavily. Do they have a rich daddy? I don't hear anything in the music that supports why they exploded so rapidly but then I'm really not in the loop on this stuff. Sounds & looks like a kitschy parody of 70's rock music that a label decided they could exploit for a couple of years. My guess would they'll disappear sooner rather than later (hopefully)

Well, I do not hate GVF. Thier album from 2018 was fun and great.  sure they Similiar to LZ but thats dont mean that their bad. I only heard Age of Machine From the new album, so I cant say a lot about it. But the song was very refreshing so maybe I will give the album a listen ...
But all the people here, I wonder if you listened to the new album. because after all the thread is about the album not the band.

I listened to about half the new album before it wore on me, and had various songs have come up as recommendations from Amazon through my Echo, but didn't hold my attention at all.

As per my post on the previous page, I have listened to the new album. It’s no more listenable for me than their first. I would never rubbish an album without listening to it first.

But the thing is, it really shouldn’t matter who else likes or dislikes a band. I know that a lot of stuff I listen to is not something that most of my friends and family would ever listen to. I don’t care if they like it or not, and if they don’t like it, I don’t care if they rubbish it. It doesn’t affect my enjoyment of their music. 🤷🏻‍♂️

unfortunately, yes I've listened to it. I was hoping they would evolve musically but that wasn't the case. And the vocalist is always over singing every song. Horrible.

Going to back the original post, I disagree with the statement that one more album like the new one and they should be on the archives. I couldn't take that statement as serious. Maybe if GVF started sounding like Hemispheres Rush.

Frankenmuth has a music scene? Admittedly, I've only been there twice (both for dog shows) and my only impressions were bratwurst, cheese, and Christmas decorations. The place has a sort of pseudo-Bavarian vibe going. I guess I need to get out more when I visit these places, but the aforementioned comments suggest I was OK with just seeking out bratwurst while I was there.

I love Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant.  I've listened to GVF's albums and their EP.  Being a home state band I feel a kinship with them so to speak.  They definitely have a Led Zeppelin feel, mostly due to the singer's voice, but I have to say that it hasn't grown on me...yet.  I'm hoping that it is a case of needing repeated listenings to adjust to it but so far I must say it is more grating than Plant.  I don't hate it, like many of the previous posters, but it hasn't fully clicked with me yet either.

Keep re-listening, you might come to hate it too. Wink

It's an ok album, the singer's voice is annoyingly high and they've got a long way to go before they're fit to lace the boots of LZ.

And I can't see them being in the archives any time soon either.

I haven't heard the whole thing, and do not think if I will find a time to do it; but from the three or four new songs I have heard, I got the impression that there is a slight improvement from their previous album.
Still, the songs are quite forgettable, hardly intriguing, and a bit samey. I really hope that around their fourth or fifth release, we will get the actual sound of this band, that could hopefully be something that really grabs you!

Also, as far as I know, they not only try to but clearly avoid mentioning Zeppelin in interviews and so on, which is a shame. Most of the people listening to them are doing so because of the similarities and possibly the nostalgia; For me, they are still far behind  LZ.

*I was thinking of starting a GVF thread at some point but will not do it in the presence of this one*

It says a lot when you listen to a singer and wished  it was Geddy Lee instead! LOL

Geddy's a bass compared to this guy. Dogs come running when you play this CD.

Never heard of em before but I gave myself a giggle just now reading the thread title as Greta Van Fleet Foxes. Incidentally, Fleet Foxes just so happens to be one of Robert Plant’s modern faves.

Now, Fleet Foxes is a good band. Robert always had good taste.

Fleet Foxes' new album Shore is excellent. Perhaps we can just talk about them, rather than Greta Van Susteren.
