Thanks. In the US "trainwreck" is usually a metaphor for a person or event gone terribly wrong; a figurative disaster, not an actual accident.

Who was the guy with the very pregnant yoga instructors as avatars and signatures? There was something definitely "off" about that character, but I always cracked up when I read his posts...although I'm thinking it might have been due to the pregger images more than the post content.

A relative newcomer to these hallowed halls I ventured in with angels shrieking "decelerate you fool". Flayed alive I was. You cannot ( at least I did not) master Ivan when it comes to debate. Mighty of coloured font and bold of type is he and damnit he really does know his stuff. 
(Newcomer in that while I did first sign up in 2007, I didn't become a regular contributer until quite recently.)

I've only seen one person that can out-Ivan Ivan. Get this...many years ago some damn fool decided to get into with him over the release date of an album. 14 pages and countless multi-colored quotes and various research finds later he emerged victorious. The key to debating him is.. a) be right and b) out stubborn him as he doesn't give up easily. Bless him

Greatest thing ever said right there. I dont wanna be one of those old types still sorta hangin around saying ahhh when things were so much better in the day, though that's true and there were many great people that I miss. But ya know, tis a website and all except for those who I interact with regularly, (and the rarer few I could say were real life friends) are just people across the internet. Kinda sad and nostalgic to think about but oh well. I imagine like myself most have just moved on to spending time on real life sh*t, bummer as that has been for me
Mandrakeroot was truly someone else.
Not sure if he's been brought up, remember The Lost Chord? Always a character and I believe semi regularly posts when drunk or on some type of drug. Also, Ansen, Cuncuna (Cucuna?), Any Colour You Like (though he very recently got me on FB), all the old "room" folk, great times. Oh snap, Henry Plainview. Now HE was the textbook of confounding and frustratingly fascinating person.

I definitely agree with you, Raff. I remember the reactions when Friede and I and our two 5 year old girls Alice and Dorothy had the car accident that landed us in hospital (well, with only Friede and me injured; the kids were unharmed but were allowed to stay with us) when we were on our way to the PA-meeting in the Hague. we got so many well-wishes, and from a lot of people we had not talked to here before. I am not certain the same would happen today. I miss Snow Dog (though Friede and I had lots of fights with him), Trouserpress, MikeEnRegalia, Tony R, Syzygy and many others whose names just don't come to my mind right now

(Jean, you quoted a two-year-old post... not that it matters, since I'm quoting it as well ) I was just thinking of that a couple of days ago (well, I go by The Hague twice a week)..... Personally, I miss Bob (EL), Chris (Syzygy), Martin (Trotsky), Martin (Alucard, but I readand exchange with him elsewhere) and (he may not believe it) Tony R(eed Lover) I also miss ProgLucky... and the old M@X (the new one is simply absent)... and my homeric fights with Ivān (though that's probably pure nostalgy)
