I wanted to add this beautiful piece of sung prayer to the thread.  This is a Georgian Orthodox parish singing for the Pope who was visiting.  The man who begins singing about one minute in is simply amazing.  Further, the prayer is sung in Jesus' language, Aramaic.  Very moving.

Thanks so much

Just wanted to let those of you that do not know that my Dad passed away on August 28th. I appreciate those that prayed for him or wished him well. Thank you.

The chants are quite nice… Not sure if I could zone out to an entire cd but sprinkled in with other music makes it enjoyable.

The voices are spectacular; if they were accompanied by some astonishing instrumentals it would be heavenly.

Beata Viscera by Hoyry-Kone is a beautiful arrangement:

I will send some mental words tonight for your friend.  I’m not sure how compelling they will be since I am not a Christian, yet.

Tony I can help.  What is your friend's first name?
I will say a rosary for him and the others you mentioned.
I'm sorry I saw this late, but fortunately some of his treatment is working and I know there are many praying for him (even some monks in Wales apparently). I don't know his real name, unfortunately. He's never shared it on the forum. I've been praying for him by his username, as silly as that sounds. I can ask if he's willing to share, though.

This was the music that the choir/orchestra played at Mass today....had to be one of the most beautiful and dramatic pieces of music I've heard.

Heinrich von Herzogenberg,
Messe in e, Op. 87
Heinrich von Herzogenberg (1843-1900) was an Austri
an composer
and conductor descended from a French aristocratic
family.
He was born in Graz, Austria and studied law,
philosophy and political science at the University of
Vienna,
before turning his energies to music. Early on Herzoge
nberg
was attracted to the “romantic” style of his contempor
ary
Richard Wagner, but after studying J. S. Bach's works
, he be-
came involved in the revival of the baroque tradition and
an
advocate for the “romantic” music of another contempo
rary -
Johannes Brahms. He died suddenly in Wiesbaden, German
y
at age 57. Herzogenberg composed his “large-scale”
Messe in
e, Op. 87
in memory of his close friend and musical collabora-
tor Philipp Spitta. It premiered in Berlin in December o
f 1894.

Our oldest child was baptized yesterday morning.  And he's so funny...when the preacher referenced "This young man," Simon said "What young man?"  Confused

LOL

I am thankful for all I have and who I live for.

Great LOL
Congrats!

It was great. Both at church and with the family.

My parents went and saw the movie God's Not Dead last night and really enjoyed it.  Seems to be popular amongst the Christian sect.
