Okay this isn't prog at the moment - it's jazz pianist Benny Green's new cd Magic Beans. It has the Washington Brothers on Bass and drums, Peter and Kenny. It's mellow and not bombastic, but It swings and I dig it!
Doesn't have to be prog to be good Half of this thread is non-prog anyways....
Are you picking on me?
Always
Nah, at least you post the occasional saucy girl on girl action covers, so we're good.
Seriously though, I really don't care whether music is prog or not. As long as I can 'feel it' right down in my bones.
I think if I went back and did a tally of the albums I post in this thread, less than half of them would be prog. But many of them are often just milling in the parking lot just outside of the prog arena.

I want the music I listen to be prog, or at least proggish, but that's just because that's the kind of music I like to listen to.
However, I think it's interesting to see what other people listen to, and perhaps especially if it's not prog, so keep those non-prog posts coming!
And this thread is in General Music Discussions anyways, so anything goes.
Since you quoted me I felt I had to google Sufjan Stevens. Seven Swans doesn't sound like an album for me, with its Christian spiritual themes, but his 'The 50 States' project sounds like an interesting idea, although it was a promotional gimmick and probably won't be completed.

As I said, keep 'em coming!
Sufjan himself has stated that the States Project was a gimmick and that he doesn't plan to really go any further with it. His most recent solo album (minus that 50-track Christmas album he released last year) was 2010's "Age of Adz" a foray into glitchy electronics, proggy song forms, and Danny Elfman-esque orchestrations.

I also have the Age of Adz and the Illinoise albums. Being from Michigan, I want to eventually have the Michigan album, but don't have it at this point.
