Probably as good a time as any to relaunch one of these, as the old one is closing on 550 pages.
As always, I'm going to start out with some Soft Machine in honour of Febus

Not the same Solstice as is on ProgArchives, rather it's a decidedly unique sounding doom metal group. They do have a strong British folk influence and a tendency towards ambitious and intricate songwriting, though.

Very psychedelic and spacey doom metal consisting only of bass and drums with sparse vocals, all of the three fed through lots of electronic distortion effects.

I heard his new EP here the other day on YouTube and thought it was amazing. He's pretty consistent, but I've spent the most time with Untrue, so that still remains my fave. No telling what the future brings though.
2 years ago I attended this huge electronic party down by the seashore, and at about 4 in the morning when the sun began to rise, the DJ put Untrue on. So sweet... I have very fond memories of dancing on a pebbled beach with some beautiful ladies dressed as Indians

Unture is pretty great, though over time i've found it to be a bit samey in some places. Doesn't hinder it too much, but just a thought of mine that i got after listening to it so a while.

I personally love it - even the strange female operatic vocals, although I'm fairly certain it made my next door neighbours a little irritated. I heard them discussing 'the racket' in between tracks
See you on the other side of sleep my friend.
Sweet dreams.

@Austin: I get what you're saying about Untrue - it does get a bit 'samey', but that is probably one of my fave things about it - that recurring beat/melody/motowny soul refrain

People into Phideaux should definitely check out this new Swedish band. They're slightly more psychedelic around the edges, but I hear distinct similarities - especially in the female vocals:
