I hope Roger will not ban this blog because of author rights. I have some >100 renderings of Roger Dean's artwork, the original versions without band logos or album names, and although many if not most of them are already surely known by most of you I thought that I would share them. I will do it bit by bit in several posts. Some images are actually slightly different versions of the same painting or close-up details.

The Demoms and Wizards is cool without the lettering. I had that on my wall for years when I was a kid The actual album cover that is. I've got the original book Roger Dean Views from the seventies but it's a bit hacked. i like his seventies paintings the best. Back then they were cool & innovative and it made you go out and buy albums. I bought Walking Circles by Midnight Sun just for the freakin' cover!

Love Roger's artworks. I was fortunate enough to see him give a talk many years ago at the annual San Diego Comic Con, where he showed some of these pieces on a very large screen so we could fully appreciate their splendor. I like the smaller one simply called Cat. Where is that from? It doesn't look like it's part of the Drama artwork. Funny, the very first piece you posted is one of my top Dean faves.  |

'Cat is a part of Greenslade's 'Bedside Manners Are Extra' cover. Love Roger Dean artworks. The Dragon that graced the cover of Gravy Train's 'Staircase To the Day' album has always been a fond fave of mine - the artwork being better than the actual album itself. Usually, RD artwork matches the quality of the music inside.

I love 'First Base'. I gave it a 4 star review many years ago. Interesting RD artwork there.

Gerinski, is there anywhere you know online that sells posters/reprints on progressive covers like these at affordable prices?
I'm currently trying to find a few poster sized works that I could display framed in a room, but don't know where to begin looking for them. Roger Dean works might be a fine start!

Thanks Chris! I will do that! Does anyone know of any notable prog cover artists that sell prints of their work in the same way?
I'm wanting to look into some Dean stuff, but generally any prog related posters....Not sure what bands/artists yet....I'm waiting for inspiration to hit!
I'm probably asking a bit too vague a question! I've seen some Ebay listed stuff, there's a ton of old A3 sized newspaper ads that might look nice in a frame on there, but I have no doubt they're mostly all printed off a computer and are not the real items at all!

Hi Michael, Honestly I don't know but I did not search, you can probably find something. I just had a quick look at RD's own page store and the prices for the 'Fine Art Prints' are mad 
However you can also order the images as desktop file downloads with a max size of 1920 x 1200 and they are cheap. With such a size the quality is enough for having a copy printed in picture-frame size at any digital printing shop, as long as you do not want them really big. I had some pictures printed for hanging at my place and for a frame size of 50 x 40 cm a resolution of 1024 x 768 gave just decent enough quality (on good photo paper of course) but a bit too grainy. With image size 1920 x 1200 I think you can get decent prints for a size up to 70 or 75 cm of longest side. Printing itself is not expensive, I think I paid 16 euro for each print 50 x 40 cm.
Another method is of course just use google image search, select 'Large' (or 'larger than...) and you can get images of decent size, then just have them printed in photo paper at a printing shop, by the image size they can tell you up to which print size the quality will be good:
Or, if you have some professional printing shop around and what you want is really album covers reproductions, and you have the LPs in good condition, you could just take them to the shop and they can scan them in high resolution and print them out in big size.

My fave is the Octopus cover art. I think it's the way he utilises colour in it - specifically red.
Another one is the Lighthouse one, but must admit that I haven't seen the edition of it posted in here. I know it as a greenish art work - and again I do prefer a little colour  |

i have noticed the dragons dream painting and i thought it's "colors" looked familar. i first found it on one my subscribed youtube channels with the username on it, so it was from Dean, COOL!!!!!
