I had to shorten it to 2 minutes without you noticing, to cover the real commercial which Lucas probably heard. The normal version is in the daily programming.

ancestry is a marvellous italian neo prog rock band.

Now, CCS, a brass rock cover band, featuring Alexis Korner, previously in a british blues band. They have a nice rendition of LZ's "whole lotta love" (the best cover I ever heard / without vocals, vocals are very rare in their music).

13 ACT : to my mind the best swedish prog metal band (besides Pain Of Salvation, that is), they draw influence from ABBA, Queen, Supertramp, Dream Theater and Saga. i saw them twice, once opening for Saga, and the other time during their very short 'Silence' 2006 summer tour. I bought a T-shirt during this last concert. I simply love the way they mix pop and prog-metal.

14 Clannad : a major influence on IONA. They were a traditional band in the seventies, then went slightly pop but retaining the celtic factor in their music, and also recorded ambient music for various Tv programs, among which the beautiful OST 'Atlantic realm'.

15 Electromagnets : Eric Johnson on guitars, very young (not his first band though !) but already a musical genius. He is accompanied by Christopher Cross on vocals, who later had a successful career.

Niebiesko-Czarni, psych-pop band that turned somewhat full prog with the rock-opera 'Naga' in the early seventies.
The track playing highlights the vocal skills of Ada Rusowicz. And the strings melt perfectly with the rock band. It's 1969.

17 Karizma, a jazz-rock outfit that started playing in a Weather report style, then turned to more pop territories with vocals. They had Carlos Vega on drums, followed later by Vinnie Colaiuta. Carlos Vega is a highly underrated drummer, who unfortunately killed himself. You could easily mistake him with another excellent drummer, Jeff Porcaro, with whom he shared the drum parts in Steve Lukathers' Los Lobotomys.

18 The Chameleons, a band that played beautiful melancholic music (they are often considered a gothic-rock band) but never gained the attention they deserved. As Aginor pointed out in a thread, they could fit in the neo-prog section of PA.

19 Transition, the last TOTO guitarist album. A proggy tune on an otherwise AOR album. Steve Lukather in great form.

20 Mark Isham : the trumpet player and his bandmates of Group 87 (Peter Maunu, Patrick O'Hearn, Terry Bozzio) are lending him a hand on a beautiful jazz-ambient track. On the album this track was taken from, Tanita Tikaram sings on two songs

21 Liesegang & (Doogie) White : a duo playing some nice melodic heavy metal.

Lol, with Moonrise (on the other radio station) and Hardscore (on iskc) in the background, it sounds like a modern version of Hatfiled & the north (Mae would be one of the Northettes)

Now Dredg melted with Moonrise (or is it another band now ?) sound like symphonic/neo-classical alternative rock, a unique experience !
