Are there any prog subgenres on PA you haven't explored yet? Prog-related and Proto-Prog count as well. Suggestions are welcome.

I have never explored "Indo Prog/Raga Rock" nor "Rock Progressivo Italiano" nor "Neo-Prog" nor "Tech/Extreme Prog Metal." Embarrassed

^I haven't listened to a lot of Zeuhl, but from what I have, I think you would like it.

Off the top of my head, the only subgenre I can think of that I haven't explored to at least the extent of a band or two is Indo-Prog/Raga Rock.  But there are a few others that I'm quite ignorant of, having heard only a minimal amount of music from them: Neo-prog, Krautrock, and Canterbury in particular.

I've pretty much explored every sub genre on the site to some degree. I don't have much experience in Kraut or Indo, but I've heard enough of them to know what's what.

I've listened to a little of every genre, but there are two subgenres that I've only really listened to two artists out of each: Progressive Electronic (Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze), and Tech/ Extreme Prog Metal (Opeth and Mastodon). Though I only recently explored Krautrock, and I haven't really explored Neo Prog, Experimental/Post Metal, and Zeuhl very thoroughly as they don't interest me much.

i've listened to a bit of the metal stuff, but its appeal generally eludes me... For example, the first, oh, 6 minutes or so of Green Carnation's "Light of Day" is great, but then they go and ruin it... As for Opeth, Queensryche, Dream Theatre, et al, it's just not to my taste. I'd rather listen to Future Sound of London and Burial, the Flaming Lips and Radiohead and Sigur Ros.... As far as Zeuhl goes: No. Just...: No.

Indo/Raga only.  While I certainly have my favorites, I find good music in all of the other subs.  Krautrock probably being my least favorite, but it may well be there are some hidden treasures there as well.  Maybe I'm too easy to please?

What entails "exploring"? Listening intesively to a number of realeases or just getting a first impression. There are some sub-genres where I pretty quickly realised that they do not really appeal to me, like Zeuhl or RIO/AvantProg. I do not really feel like exploring further. On the other hand I am not too familiar with Canterbury but am quite willing to look further into it.

Indo/Raga is the one I'm the least familiar with, but even there I know some artists.

Of course I'm nobody to judge anyone's tastes, but RPI and Neo are really worth exploring, many gems in there!
 
I have superficial knowledge of all subgenres but some which I am quite ignorant about are
- Indo / Raga
- Post Rock / Math
- Tech / Extreme / Experimental Post metal
- Krautrock
- Electronic / Space
 
there's simply too much good music out there, no time and money to dig it all!

I've tried all of the genres, but I tend not to dig too deep into most of them anymore...and I flat out stay as far away as I can from stuff like neo/symph (with the exception of, like, Yes).

Haven't listened much to Post/math but I have liked all that I've heard, in particular "From Monument to Masses". I'm not very keen with extreme metal but I quite like Arcturus. Currently neo-prog is what I listen less but even there I can find good stuff

As far as Indo-Prog goes, I've only listened to Shakti (who are amazing by the way). I've only recently started to explore Zeuhl and its already turning out to be one of my favorite prog subgenres. I plan to have a few Magma albums this Christmas. Avant-prog/RIO is another one I've only recently gotten into.

I guess I haven't explored prog electronic as much as I should. And I did somewhat explore neo-prog a long time ago (and hated it), but my appreciation of music has changed so much from that point that I might as well not have. All I remember from it anyway is synth pads, slightly overproduced guitars, and lots of sentimentality. But, who knows, that may be what I like about it if I give it a good listen.

I've also had limited experience with Canterbury.

I've found Zeuhl to be very addicting. Many people recommend 4 Visions by Eskaton, but it's a bit boring compared to MDK, Kohntarkosz, and Eros (Dun).

Prog-folk is amazing. I recommend ignoring Tull for a bit and checking out Comus (First Utterance), Jan Dukes de Grey (Mice and Rats in the Loft), and Strawbs (Ghosts and Grave New World).
